@ossobuco,
Just saw recent posts..

All I'll say is that I hope Diane packs her cell phone.. (that would be a funny in usual circumstances).

There is some pumpkin panna cotta in their refrigerator. It's possible she won't like it, but I'm betting...

Thanks for letting us know. That old cowboy just does all this to keep us anxious. His idea of a joke. Not funny, Magee.

@Diane,
Okay, I gotta ask. Is the ole grizzly alright…or is he skulking around some hospital somewhere trying to…well, never mind about that.

Anyway, I am concerned…and I hope all is going well.

Di, you know I mean this even if the bastard did kick me repeatedly the face while I was unconscious and defenseless in the gutter of a New York City side street one night.

But that is all water under the dam or over the bridge or whatever the hell the right expression is. All that agony is now forgotten. All the pain I suffered is all part of the past. All the marks and bruises that never really did heal very well are part of the distant landscape that never again will rise in my mind"no matter how vivid the memories might be.

Hope he is fit as a fiddle!

Tell him I said "hi."

5 pm. I just called the hospital to talk to Diane, but no answer in Dys' room. Talked to the floor nurse and she said Dys was already down in surgery and there isn't a phone in the waiting room. Osso called me but she doesn't know much more than what has already been posted.

Osso, when you have time, call me give me your phone number. I thought I had it but don't.

@ossobuco,
Okay, call me cynical, but a month old injury suddenly requires ER admission rather than scheduled. I don't suppose there is an extra charge for using the emergency room, perchance?

I'll try to call tomorrow. They're both going to be preoccupied tonight.

Just found this. Will say an extra prayer tonight that the surgery goes well, and the recovery is as quick and uneventful as possible.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, guys.

Holy ****!! The man was hopping around with a walker for almost a month before finally getting his hip x-rayed.

When I saw the x-ray I nearly threw up. It was so ugly and so exstensive that no one at the hospital who saw it could believe he had been able to move at all and were astounded that he had been fairly active with this ugly break for a month. His pain threshhold is unbelievably high. Naturally, most of you know how astoundingly stubborn he is, so the combination is unbeatable---which can actually be dangerous because of his ability to keep going, through the pain, with a very bad injury and the real danger of making things worse.

So he had the hip replacement surgery. His doctor was pleased at how well Bob held up during the operation. His health and strength have diminished badly, worrying everyone about his ability to withstand the trauma of surgery. The doctor doesn't know how long he will be in the hospital, but did say that Bob wouldn't be able to walk, he won't know how long the stay will be until he sees how well Bob progresses. Tomorrow, I'll need to find out about physical therapy, whether or not we will need to rent a hospital bed for when he comes home, possible part time home nursing etc.

Osso was so good at staying at the house waiting for the fuk*ng UPS delivery of the wheel chair, which never arrived. Dante is in love with her and wants to cuddle and be petted and scratched, not caring a whit that Osso is allergic, so badly that the minute she steps into our house, she starts to tear up and get itchy and wheezy. That might be a slight exaggeration, but only a little.

Luella (BBB) is also right there with offers of help whenever we need it, even with her own serious disabilities. Our neighbor Ann is the same way, caring , but also willing to follow it up with action, if need be. All three are treasures to be cherished.

Now to sleep. Hah. Will it be possible to wind down enough to sleep? Where is the wine?
