This is a quick post to encourage phone calls. Of course Dys is weak and a little confused at times (and he knows it) but friendship is so much more important than sleep. He might not be able to talk for long, but his friends on a2k are the ones he truly cares about.

I won't be posting much, but Jo will help keep updates coming.

There really is nothing I can say. All I want to do is to be with Dys. This stroke was so bad that we are both pretty accepting of whatever comes.

Not being unrealistic, but the stubborn old cowboy just might pull through. Speech therapy and physical therapy will be a great help when he is ready for them.

Much love to you all. Your posts and thoughts have the usual a2k magic. They make it right through all the craziness and straight to the heart.

Felt like reposting some photos from past gatherings in Albaturkey. Hope the original posters don't mind.

Back on December 3rd, 2003 Diane posted this on my Neverending A2K Musical Dedication Request Line:

Diane wrote:

This is to Bob, otherwise known as Dys.

And I Love You So
~ Perry Como

And I love you so
The people ask me how
How I've lived 'til now
I tell them I don't know

I guess they understand
How lonely life has been
But life began again
The day you took my hand

And yes I know, how lonely life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around me

And you love me too
Your thoughts are just for me
You set my spirit free
I'm happy that you do

The book of life is brief
And once a page is read
All but life is dead
That is my belief

And yes I know, how lonely life can be
The shadows follow me
And the night won't set me free
But I don't let the evening get me down
Now that you're around me

And Bob posted this a few days later:

dyslexia wrote:

for the nun:

If today was not an endless highway,
If tonight was not a crooked trail,
If tomorrow wasn't such a long time,
Then lonesome would mean nothing to you at all.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

I can't see my reflection in the waters,
I can't speak the sounds that show no pain,
I can't hear the echo of my footsteps,
Or can't remember the sound of my own name.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

There's beauty in the silver, singin' river,
There's beauty in the sunrise in the sky,
But none of these and nothing else can touch the beauty
That I remember in my true love's eyes.
Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',
Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',
Only if she was lyin' by me,
Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

@Butrflynet,
Butrflynet, do I ever remember when we met. I lead the poor, gentle cowboy down the primrose path. First time in my life I acted like a wanton hussy and I've always been grateful for finding the nerve to not let him go.

@Diane,
I've had a similar reaction all day today, much like I did during my father's illness. Doesn't make a bit of sense since I've never met Bob face to face, but sometimes I feel like I know him better than I knew my own dad. They're both very gentle souls with a gruff exterior to mask the mushmellows inside.

I wish I was able to be there with you, Diane. Frustratingly, all I can do is gather some good memories and thoughts to encircle you with warmth and comfort.

Funny story, dys and Diane.

Young man was torn between two women. One was not so attractive, but had a great singing voice. The other was "a looker" as McTag likes to say, so he asked his father for advice. Dad told him to marry the talented one because beauty faded; talent did not. After the honeymoon, the young man looked at his new wife lying abed and shook her saying, " Hey you. Wake up and sing."

Razz

So, cowboy, wake up and sing with Letty.

Thanks, Diane. I had spoken to Bob about a week ago. I wanted to call him again, but was afraid of exhausting him. Now if he complains that some miserable old broad is bugging him, I can say that you are to blame. Razz
