@old europe,
Yes. The present system is rotten to the core. I dident spin my post but stated exactly what I believe. Neither the democrates or the republicans in Washington give a dam about anything but getting themselves elected so they can feed at the public tit. They dont give a crap wether I have a job in order to feed my family or id anyones family has enough to eat. They do what most people in power do that is stay in power no matter the cost to the rest of the nation. I have already stated that Obama is better than Mccain but I know once he is in office its going to be the samr old thing in D C as its always been. The rich controll the government no matter who is in power. Look at the last 2 years we have had a democratic congress. No changes just excueses.

Yea, the liberals don't give a damn that Obama was involved with organized crime...

@sozobe,
It was the lead story on two different news programs last night. The counter-attack from the McCain camp, quoted a few pages ago by H2O man without attribution, was predictable and kind of lame.

A higher minimum wage wasn't exactly what got them elected now was it?

Plus, the First Read guys make a good point about timing:

Clearly, Team McCain and its GOP allies were spooked as they unloaded their Rezko/Ayres oppo in one-fell swoop. It felt like an oppo-dump that was probably off the schedule they had in their heads about when they'd unveil these various hits.

Nope - it was what they did after they got elected Wink

Rable said there's been "no changes just excueses." Not true, then.

Of course you cant change a whole lot with Bush vetoing stuff and the Republicans in disciplined obstruction mode, but sometimes I get a bit tired of the moaning. No of course they're not gonna instantly, magically make your life wonderful & happy. They make the incremental policy changes that they can. I'm sure the millions who are now benefiting from the higher minimum wage, which hadnt been raised in forever, are quite pleased with that.

@H2O MAN,
The island is generally restricted to native Hawaiians - but they can use the beaches all they like Smile

And you damn well know that Obama wasn't on that island, so why don't you have some intellectual honesty and admit that your initial argument, cut and pasted from a stupid McCain campaign response, was bullshit?

@sozobe,
Hey Soz,

I think McCain's camp is freaking, b.c they had chose Romney as the VP - and you couldn't announce a choice which will more reinforce the meme that McCain's presidency will be full of out-of-touch rich old white men, then to pick an EVEN RICHER old white guy to be the VP. I think this meme is truly scaring them.

And I tend to think there isn't much gas left in that oppo after Hillary dumped it in that disastrous excuse for a debate.

That's interesting... I hope that this thing isn't big enough to knock Romney out of contention. (I SO want him to be the McCain's VP! :-D)

@okie,
Where did you first hear about Rezko okie?

I bet it was from a media source just like everyone else.

Where did you first hear about Reverend Wright?

Obama got a pass? When you can provide some fact about Obama that didn't come from the press then we might believe he got a pass but the sheer number of "scandals" that the press has reported on make it hard to swallow any claim he is getting a pass.

@okie,
Depends on when.

I think he did up until Iowa.

Since then, no.

I do think that a lot of people in the press like him. But I think they are very sensitive to charges of bias and so are even more likely to go ahead and pursue stories -- which is what I mean about giving a pass.

I think Obama gets more press than McCain in general, which is a two-edged sword. McCain gets less hagiography, but also less critical follow-up.

@okie,
You want Romney? Mittens for Kittens? Seriously?

Surely the fact that the guy sunk dozens of millions of his own dollars into his campaign, and still lost big-time, shows you that he isn't a winner, Okie. You want that on the ticket? We'll have a field day running against the Lifestyles of the Mitt and McCainous!

Lol
