This photo is from the One of A Kind show site for this spring -- the third year gold smithing students will be selling and displaying their work (and they'll be staffing the booth).

@ehBeth,
ehBeth, both the "Georges" will be there. Both Georgian and George Brown have jewelry courses.

@Tai Chi,
Does this mean you'll be in Toronto in early April?

(Sits up straight. Looks around hopefully)

Ah...well, I wasn't planning on it. The College Guy was asked weeks ago if he wanted to work on the show but declined as it's so close to year end and (as usual) he's obsessing about projects and papers that will be due. If that changes I could let you know. (Toronto...so close and yet so far...)

Aint it the truth.

Can't say as I blame him none, either.

Still, one of these days, that'd be nice. : )

School's out for the summer!

A few photos for those of you following along. Second semester was casting. Primitive casting -- splash casting: molten metal + bucket of water =

@sozobe,
Hi soz! The metal is a copper/silver mix called shibuchi; (I'm sure I've mangled the spelling).

New this year -- metal smithing. This vessel started out as a circle of copper, was hammered into a simple bowl shape (think half a grapefruit) for the first half of the assignment and then hammered into a drinking vessel.
