Getting only half the facts right is good enough in your world I guess.

FACT: Bush is from Texas.
FACT: Bush murdered millions of people

Half my facts are true so I guess Bush murdered millions of people.

Given the huge volume of sheer nonsense you've spewed about this legislation, you might want to try achieving even 1% accuracy before you aim for 50%.

And who claimed Obama voted to ban .30-.30 ammo and has now backed off that claim when presented with facts about the law?

Wrong again. I've backed off nothing. It is pretty clear what those Senators thought they were banning.

Quote:
Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating.

It is outrageous and unconscionable that such ammunition continues to be sold in the United States of America.

The funny part of this is using the standard applied to Obama, it looks like McCain wants to ban all guns too..

Quote:
Supports ban on certain assault weapons
McCain said he was open to voting for an assault weapon ban, depending on the details

Nuance is important. McCain was just lying to placate the "soccer moms".

Bush said he supported said ban too, but we all knew he was going to fight to kill it (which is just what he did do).

Oh, the poor NRA.. no major candidate to endorse. Maybe they will endorse Bob Barr

The NRA supports instant background checks at gun shows.

I'm sure you'd like to think so, WateronthebrainMan . . . but i'd suggest you get a mirror and repeat that statement while gazing into the mirror . . . there are no problems which i have which i blame on anyone else, least of all a pack of brain-dead conservatives with hard-ons for guns--guns aren't a problem for me, they form no part of my life. Would that this were so for so many others.

So in other words you entire argument is based on your unsupported opinion. Facts be damned. You will believe what you want to believe.

You have provided nothing that makes it even partly clear let alone pretty clear what the Senators thought. You provided only part of Kennedy's statement that upon reading doesn't imply at all that his intent was to ban .30-.30 ammo. .30-.30 ammo is not listed on the Hi-Vel site he referenced.

Wrong. Kennedy's statement makes it quite clear that he was targeting that caliber along with all the other rifle calibers that "may be used in a handgun".

His statement does NOT make it clear. He is listing rifles not handguns. If you don't know the difference I can't help you.

Yes it does.

Yep. It's no coincidence that I am accusing him of trying to ban rifle calibers and not handgun calibers.

Yeah, you accused him of banning ammo in a law that even you admit wouldn't ban the ammo you claimed was being banned.

Your accusation was without merit. Your continued attempt to claim it has merit is also without merit.

Wrong again. It is quite clear that they were aiming for the .30-30 among other rifle calibers when they passed the law.

And while the proposed legislation would not have banned the .30-30 despite the intent of those Senators, it would have banned military surplus ammo.

Obama and parados and set and the rest are a bunch of marxist goons who want to take away your guns and money and redistribute them to those less fortunate.

Obama, and the liars of A2K, must be defeated at all costs.

Yep. That one's true. Obama voted to allow such lawsuits to continue.

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama wants to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.

Yep. That one's true. "Clinton Gun Ban" is a reference to the assault weapons ban. The term "assault weapon" is deliberately meant to mislead people into thinking they are full auto weapons, so some people refer to the ban under different names. Regardless, Obama supports renewing the ban.

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.

The vote in question would certainly outlaw military surplus ammo. It would also get ammo that is especially designed for self-defense, if that ammo is in one of the targeted rifle calibers.

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama supports local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities.

Yep. That one's true.

(Chicago's next on the menu after we get done shredding DC's unconstitutional gun law. Very Happy)

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama supports requiring law-abiding gun owners to register their firearms.

That one's true too.

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama wants to eliminate your Right to Carry.

Yep. Obama is on record calling for a federal statute to prohibit state governments from issuing concealed carry permits to anyone other than the police.

H2O_MAN wrote:
FACT: Barack Obama favors a ban on standard capacity magazines.

Yep. That is true as well. He wants to limit us all to 10 rounds.

The ones I didn't address are not necessarily false -- I just am not familiar enough with those claims to vouch for or against them.

I guess 10 rounds or less is not a standard capacity magazine in the gun nut world.

I guess common sense is not standard equipment in the Liberal whack job world.

Personally, I prefer 75 and 100 round capacity drums.
