Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. It is outrageous and unconscionable that such ammunition continues to be sold in the United States of America.

The funny part of this is using the standard applied to Obama, it looks like McCain wants to ban all guns too..

You have provided nothing that makes it even partly clear let alone pretty clear what the Senators thought. You provided only part of Kennedy's statement that upon reading doesn't imply at all that his intent was to ban .30-.30 ammo.

He is listing rifles not handguns.

And while the proposed legislation would not have banned the .30-30 despite the intent of those Senators, it would have banned military surplus ammo.
