2 CGs in 4 days. Too bad neither was a shutout.
Tico is still 6 games back from Zero in wins, up 3 on ties which should leave him 4.5 games out of 2nd, I think...
Don't get too comfy in seventh, RJ, although The Paws will probably not make, uh, a significant improvement this immediate week.
The Herons should come back from vacation smiling..
<stares at the team figuring out which one to holler at first>
Dang. Ah well. At least I wasn't shut out for the week.
I am not meaning to gloat, of course. I am too much of the southern gentleman to do that vs the bratwurst guy in Milwaukee.
But in the trash talk balloon today, I set out the 'Necks goals for Tuesday:
1) Put some distance between us on 2B. We went from 4-3 to 8-3. Mission accomplished.
2) Get further ahead on RBI's. It was 8-6, now it is 13-8. Mission accomplished.
3) Get a pitching win. Mission accomplished.
4) Get a pitching save. That didn't happen, but I got a hold. Mission accomplished.
By my calculation, dude, you are still down 11-1 thanks in no small part to some "superb" batting by your team. .087 as I see it.
Ha!
Wow, .087 .... that's MUCH worse than my .146 from yesterday.
Perhaps you are aware of this:
Long-time Chicago sportswriter Jerome Holtzman died this past week-end. Known simply as "The Dean," Holtzman is credited with inventing the pitching statistic known as the "Save."
It seems that back in 1959 there was a RP who racked up a a record of 18 wins and 1 loss and was regarded by many as a brilliant pitcher. But not by Holtzman.
The RP would come in with a lead, blow it, only to have his team score some runs and the RP would get the win.
Holtzman devised the scheme that, after some tweaking, became the standard in MLB in 1969. And RP's now who are good at getting lots of saves and lots of money in return should raise a glass to "The Dean."
I just recently figured out that my wonderful RP Francisco Rodriguez is known as K-Rod and keenly valued. So, a tip of the cold Gerolsteiner to Holtzman (I left Chicago before he was a sportswriter there) and K-Rod too.

And the Cubbies won ... quite a day for you.
True --- a very nice day, all around.
I'm not sure what's up with Zero but you could make a charge for second if you get off your butt this week.
My hitters are apparently too busy doing other things -- getting off their butts appears to be too much of a distraction for them this week.

Do yall know how the % is calculated? Tico, for example, is 145-109-50 and has a % of .559. How was that determined?
Duh. I thought I had tried that. Thanks.
Wins + 1/2 Ties / Total Games Played
Code:145 + .5(50) / 304 = .5592105
This is weird. My Thursday results disappeared. So did Tico's. Haven't checked others yet.
I think Yahoo is a bit slow today. The results have not updated, it seems.
I saw the Thurs. results last night.. now blank. Maybe that's somehow part of the process.
