It doesn't matter, osso, unless you want to become totally addicted to this. You get advance notice, several day's advance notice, of who the SP's are going to be for most of the week (barring rainouts or injuries).
Those can pretty much be set.

As for other players on your roster, the managers of the "real life" teams give the home-plate umpire their starting lineups an hour or so before game-time. That is made public, but I doubt that any of us here follows this game that closely to make changes that late.

You should go to Edit Lineup above your team and make sure that you put guys on the bench who play on teams that are idle on Monday or Tuesday etc and bring in players (if you think they are any good) who play on teams who are scheduled.

So, you're saying I don't have to go out and buy a new laptop with wifi for my trip outta town the week after next?

I'll study what you just said, re the bench and monday and tuesday..

My immediate problem is that everywhere I look Smoltz is pitching for Atlanta tomorrow. He should be off the DL, re the 15 days. The Yahoo site still has him on it.. Heck, I guess I'll assume he's pitching and take him off the bench. What's another error in a sackrace...

Osso, he will come off at the last minute, but if you don't put him to active duty the day before, you are tattooed.

Johnboy sits in the right field bleachers wanly waving his little Redneck's banner. My SP for St Louis threw 8 innings pretty well. I was hoping for a CG but not expecting one. Sure enough, he struggled a bit in the top of the 8th and got pulled for a PH in the home half of the inning. He got the win, but it matters little against Jaye.

BTW, I have no tv but I can follow games on the CBS site:
www.sportsline.com/mlb/scoreboard which updates games on a pitch by pitch basis. It is much faster than what you get on Yahoo.

so, rjb (rr), you got a SV and I got a CG. Can you say addicted?

Jaye is an evil person.

Osso, Atlanta is playing mind-games with their opponent on whether or not Smoltz will play. If you think he will be the SP and you want him in your lineup, you need to move him from DL to either SP or P. Yahoo will then tell you that you have too many players, and you need to drop someone.
I am stunned by how many good players you have.
Do you want to lose any of them and how important is it that you have Smoltz pitch tomorrow?

Ah, then you have the first CG of the year. They're very rare, period, but really rare in April.

The CBS site is good, but have you tried the MLB.com site? I like it better for tracking real time games.

Speak for yourself, RJB. I plan to check later this morning to see if Berkman is in Houston's starting lineup, or not, b/c of the neck spasm that took him out of yesterday's game early. If he's playing today, I'll throw him back into my starting lineup.

And if I get busy and don't check, I've got his position covered.

CBS is also good for listing probable pitchers many days in advance. I assume (read: hope) they make changes if there are injuries or rainouts.

Well, that took care of that. Yahoo told me that Smolz is injured and on my starting roster, with a little button for adjust roster. Ok, ok, moved him back to the bench. I'll keep watching already.

Johnboy, I dunno, don't want to get rid of a pitcher just yet. I went looking yesterday and got up to players with ratings around a thousand without even seeing a pitcher listed. I've been fooling around changing some batters, but am just watching to see how they behave themselves. Hmmm, addictive personality disorder....

edit.. now I see he's been moved back into starting. Eh, back he goes to start. I guess it doesn't matter, as I've Santana starting for sure.

So it looks like you are set to go with three SP's working for you: Setanta and Smoltz in your lineup as SP's and Guthrie in as a P.

Osso ... You have Guthrie on your bench. By design?

You can slide him from BN to one of your P positions (i.e., move Oswalt or Lilly to the BN ... they aren't pitching today). That way you'll have all 3 starting SP on your active roster today (Smoltz, Santana, and Guthrie).

Unless you want Guthrie on your bench ...

And checking just now, Berkman has a little "x" so he will remain on my bench.
