Thank you Ticomaya, I do understand that. In one case there is nothing listed. I have a Matt Kemp that was benched before the game, and he has no ^ or x.

Yeah, it's too early. Wait until about an hour before game time and check.

Next confused question:

On April 2, I had two starting pitchers including the first guy and second guy on the list, pitch winning games of 13-0 and 9 to 6.

Far down on my list, the last P, is a pitcher listed as RP SP. He apparently played as SP, lost, 8-2. It was this losing guy that was counted, eh, with an ERA of 7.71. Where as the first on the list had an ERA of 0.72.

What's the deal? The game with the losing guy - that apparently took precedence - happened earliest in the day. Is the day's schedule really what matters for who gets counted? Or how could I have messed up?

You had Santanta and Oswalt in your lineup but they didn't actually pitch on 4/2. You can't get points if the players don't actually play in the games.
Lilly (who is a SP) was listed in you lineup as a P. That qualified you to be responsible for his performance, which turned out to be less then stellar.
Look for the ^ next to the opposing team's name for pitchers on your roster.

I did. They all had those grommits last I looked before I stopped looking. (Or I could have sworn they did.) I'll either need to check twice a day or more, or just float, not sure which way I'll go.

I presume I mixed up days, but remain doubtful.

Thanks for answering.

Osso, your pitching is still rumored to be decent...

You will get there. Cool

You must have mixed up days, osso. Santana and Oswalt pitched on Monday.

The Dogeared Southpaws are narrowing the gap as my El Paso hitters go
a combined 1-for-22 yesterday. Ack.

O.k....the season has started. Small review.
Tigers on my Herons. Pathetic. O for four. Spring training leader Polanco-one for fourteen. Sheffield. One for seven. Torn tendon. White Sox Konerko. One for ten. Kemp. Benched. My pitching. Zumaya Injured. Jimenez. Three runs on seven hits. Hoffman. Thirteen point five earned run average. That was not a typo. (13.5). Tiger sophmore superstar Jason Grilli allowed three runs in the only inning he pitched. Z.Miner. Nine point 0 earned run average on two innings pitched.
Other than that, I'm doing fine.

So, we're in the bottom of the eighth and Fukudome stats are -

2/3 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .667

He got, apparently, 2 hits in 3 at bats, and they call it 1 Run. Huh?

Baby is so easily confused.

I should be quiet. Maybe stats are slow to fill in.

He got 2 hits, osso, but he only crossed home plate 1 time, scoring a run.

I just reread the thread. I understand so much more now than either when I asked the questions or saw the answers. Progress does occur, though it ain't obvious.

Dogeared whiner that I've been, I'm of course really enjoying all this - thank you all.

On the reread, I saw a comment by Alex about dusting off his mitt. This time that got through to me.. when I was a kid, I used my dad's old catcher's mitt. Damn, that's long gone. I think my bat was "Ralph Kiner". So is the bat long gone.

I am sharpening my knife this evening. Tomorrow there will be blood spilt in the Redneck's dugout.

Remember this, osso ... the baseball season is a marathon, not a sprint.

Johnboy sits in the right field bleachers wanly waving his little Redneck's banner. My SP for St Louis threw 8 innings pretty well. I was hoping for a CG but not expecting one. Sure enough, he struggled a bit in the top of the 8th and got pulled for a PH in the home half of the inning. He got the win, but it matters little against Jaye.

BTW, I have no tv but I can follow games on the CBS site:
www.sportsline.com/mlb/scoreboard which updates games on a pitch by pitch basis. It is much faster than what you get on Yahoo.

Thanks, RJB, I just added that to my tool bar.

Next in the line of marathon questioning:

Suppose you have a person who has multiple abilities, say, OF and 3B.

Suppose you want to put him in your team's outfield - does that mean that in real life he has to be used in the outfield and not 3B on the days you position him in the field?

More specifically, I'm thinking of substituting a guy like that for my shortstop. But I can't yet find online where a team's players are listed for that day - just the pitchers. It would be nice if it didn't matter...

I don't think it matters. Don't hold me to that...

Osso, if he is qualified at SS, he can play there any day regardless of where he is playing in real life. (as long as he is playing)

Is that what you were asking?

Yes, osso, If you put a guy into your lineup who is "qualified" to play OF and SS, if he plays that day in either position, you get his stats.
Having players who can move around is useful, if they are good.
