Would you be interested in trading Marmol?

I need to see what you offer, jp.
Good middle relievers are not that common a commodity.

It all depends, Tico, on what you define as a good middle reliever.

Do you want only holds, or holds, Ks and ERA?

I've just been reminded (thanks JPB) that I haven't been paying attention over here. Bit of something going on IRL.

I'll try to re-focus my attention later this week. I suspect I'm going to need some help as I've probably forgotten everything I'd figgered out Confused

Someone who knows how to help her with replacing/benching multiple players on the DL would be a good primer for all of us newbies.

And I'm confused again. I've got a red DL by the pitcher John Smolz, and in the column next to it, he's listed as playing (apparently) on Apr. 3 at 5:10 pm. I can't seem to verify that..

The first thing to do when you have a player designated as being on the DL is to bench him and get a player into your line-up in his place. Usually you want to have as full a line-up as possible.

The second thing to do is click on the little yellow box next to the player's name who is on DL. It will give you an update on his status as well as his stats. In some cases Yahoo's "experts" will offer a recommendation on the player's future. If you decide you would like to keep him on your team, go to "Roster" and move him from "Bench" to "DL." Then you can go out and pick up another player in any position. If you do that, when the player comes off of DL you will need to drop a player to keep your roster at the limit.

I peaked at ehbeth's roster and she is hurting big-time. She has something like five players listed as being on the DL but can only warehouse three of them with that designation. The other two can be left on the bench, but that leaves her with fewer players being available to fill empty slots in her line-up. The alternative is to drop two of them.

I am not going to make suggestions about what she or anyone else should do. I am just trying to explain the mechanics.

He is on my bench... mumbles.. (and is due back at least by the 6th, according to the flag, and NOT listed as starting pitcher at the team site. Oh well, I'll see if the DL disappears later this evening.)

And no, I don't want you to tell me what to do. I was just wondering if when they come off the DL, if that is removed on one's team list.

I know...

I bet I could go look at injuries - there was a link for that back on page 4.

Carry on, all.

Just looked at the DL list and I see it's a 15-day thing.

Yeah, 15 days. And if you click on the red thingee, you will see he went on DL 3/21, so that would suggest he would come off on 4/5.
BTW, you don't need to go to the team's website to find out who is scheduled to play. Go to your line-up for any given day and look for the ^ next to the opposing team's name. Early in the season there is a lot of juggling going on, but it will settle down into a routine.

... and for field players, the "^" won't appear until about an hour prior to game time ... when lineups are turned in, I believe.

It appears days ahead for pitchers who are scheduled to start -- but those too have been known to change unexpectedly (and usually rarely).

Thanks, both of you. As usual I got all in a dither over nothing. I looked at other people's teams and lots have DLs on the bench with some time scheduled next to their names. It must be when the rest of the team will be playing.

Some of my players are getting benched the day of the games. Anyway to forsee that?

Duly noted, Tico. I was thinking of the ^ in terms of SP's.
And with regard to your rant on Yahoo about Triples being dropped as a scoring category, I kind of agree, kind of. I reckon I would have dropped, in the pitching category, Complete Games and Shutouts. They rarely happen, either.

Beth ... you only have 3 spots available on your "team" DL. Here is a suggestion or two:

You don't have a backup 3B on your roster, so you need to put Rolen on the DL, then you need to pick up a 3B to replace him (at least while Rolen is on the DL). You can always dump the replacement 3B later. (Although why you would want to keep Rolen is beyond me.)

You have 2 OF's (Alou and Hermida). You can either pick up another OF ... or what I would suggest is you can move Upton to the OF position, rotate Theriot to SS, and move Iguchi to 2B. I would suggest you do that, because then you can move both of your DL pitchers to your "team" DL, and pick up 2 replacement pitchers.

Doing that, you will be at least fielding a full team, with 2 of your bench field players sidelined on the DL, but not your "team" DL.

See my post above yours. If they aren't playing, instead of a "^" there will be an "X"

Thank you Ticomaya, I do understand that. In one case there is nothing listed. I have a Matt Kemp that was benched before the game, and he has no ^ or x.
