Is there widespread poverty in Europe? I wasn't aware of that.

An admittedly subjective observation, but as a Canadian on the Wet Coast, living near the US border, I can safely say that many (most?) of the people I meet (both Canadians recently transplanted from Europe and Canadians of long time residence) have at the least a mild (if not rather extreme) anti-American stance.

I often used to suggest to these people: I bet by casual conversation and association they would not be able to show any significant difference between (for example) a Satellite and a Vancouverite in a neutral setting, (well outside of the very obvious of another country / city).

The English are bailing out of England at a rapid pace. Many are going to Spain and Portugal, which welcome the English.

I wager that the unending flow of information about the torture condoned and encouraged by the Bush administration breeds considerable contempt abroad for the USA. Perhaps our non-USA posters would speak to this.

Its already been said. A billion times. We're just waiting for Pres Obama/Clinton/McCain to end the nightmare. In the meantime staying low and hoping we dont get killed in the crossfire from an American attack on Iran.

With Bush continuing at the helm, the nation is still in great danger. His judgment is atrocious, and he takes the advice of incompetents and madmen.

This tells me that an impeachment effort should have been effected.
