I'll add just a few comments about the restaurants osso mentioned, using a combination of copy and paste from her post and my own words.

Little Anita's (New Mexican food, outdoor patio),--the patio is the best part. For Bob and me, the food is so, so,, but the location is perfect for those walking around in Old Town.

Indigo Crow--Everyone loves this place. Priced a tiny bit more than other, ordinary restaurants like Spinn's, but not at all unreasonable. Lovely patio.

Season's I haven't been there in a long time, but it was
quite a cut above the rest, with pricing to match. Not
for those watching their budget.

Lindy's Coffee Shop--Right in downtown ABQ, with the many of the original Art Deco buildings to look at. It is very good, we've liked it each time we've gone. Old fashioned coffee shop with a lot of different kinds of food, including Greek and New Mexican. Not expensive.

Spinn's is a place with pretty good hamburgers, a lot of other food and a spectacular beer list. Not good if you are only interested in food that is healthful. The other food Jo mentioned tends toward bratwurst, fried fish, chili, etc. The kind of food that makes health food nuts go right into cardiac arrest.

Roger might not like this one as he ist he only member of our group who is a known gourmet. In fact, Roger's name is pronounced like gourmet. Sort of like Hyacinth Bucket--if you watch that show. Roger is considered the gourmand about town, so try to behave yourselves. (No, no, don't behave, this is supposed to be a fun time).

Flying Star--You'll know after Fri. night if you like it.
I bet you will.

I forgot about The Range in Bernalillo. It is not all that far from ABQ, about a 20 minute drive, if you don't stop at a great Native Plants nursery first (which we did the last time).

I think we're going to head for D&D's on Friday morning, depart from there to some lunch place (probably one of those ossobuco suggests in Old Town), return to one or both of the local homes for spirited conversation in the afternoon, have dinner with the group Friday evening, do breakfast and the tram on Saturday and perhaps on from there to Madrid and/or Santa Fe -- or not, skip the park on Sunday and take our drive upstate if we didn't do it on Saturday, have a nice dinner Sunday evening whatever else we do, gather on Monday with whoever's still in town and maybe do some ALQ museums or galleries (or whatever is open on Monday), have another small dinner going-away deal that night and maybe again on Tuesday for breakfast before departing.

How's that for firming up the schedule?

a hat

So I am looking at my hat. The hat I will be wearing in Albuquerque. It is so pathetic looking. It is red. Mostly red. A baseball style hat. It has above the brim "Able2know.com." It is a relic from one of the early fundraisers that Craven and Jespah ran, perhaps one of the only surviving hats from that long-ago time.
It looks like a puppy might have chewed on the brim a bit. I know that it got left out in the rain at least once. It got run over by my truck. Not while I was wearing it, fortunately.
One of my customers, an older lady, said (searching for a word), "It has...character."
See yall in a few days.

A hat. Yes!

We should have a worst hat contest between RJB and Roger. I will see if I can find an appropriate present for the winner--maybe a new worst hat. How having the voting on Saturday during breakfast? That's when all of us are sure to be together. If anyone else wants to enter the contest, just put your hat in the ring. (I'll do the groaning for you).

Feel free to say Boo or Yeah to idea. My love for horrible hats could very well have skewed my idea of what makes a good contest.

Who has come the farthest everyone already knows. Who wears the most diamonds just isn't relevant for this group. Zircons? Great big, gaudy rhinestones? Suggestions are welcome.

I have at least two a2k hats - one from a2k, and one mass produced for us at his own expence for the 1st San Francisco Meet by CI that none of us ladies would wear. Well, wait, I think I finally threw it out on the last move, sentimental as I am. (Sorry, CI! I did try it on a couple of times and gave up.) Alas, my remaining a2k hat is not in bad shape. But in an April wind it might be up in Colorado if I wore it.

Instead I have a tacky hippie woven hat with a pair of rhinestone earrings as decor on the sorta tie. I think this might be worth a bad hat entry. The deal is, it stays on, usually, without that underchin tie thing help.
By the way, I have baskets of hats, one large for sunhats and one smallish for baseball caps, some of the hats nice, culled from a lifetime of terrible hats. Just say if you arrive sans hat and I'll bring some.

I LIED. I just checked. My a2k hat total was wrong.
I have two serviceable non-runover a2k hats, and, schniff, I did save the ugly-as-sin SF meet hat. (I'll trade ya... if I don't go sentimental, which is possible.) Plus an Italy cap I bought here during the soccer frenzy some time ago. There's my Mao hat (Chinatown, LA), and one or two Venice hats.

If anyone does arrive and needs a sunhat, please ask.

Please be assured that she will never, never let go of her Venice hat. Oh, is that Venice,CA? If so, she might let it go.

I'll let go of Venice Italy (no hat, in any case) before Venice CA

I'm just more obnoxious about Venice Italy.

How about a rather small and extremely faded women's Sistine Chapel T shirt, you know, the fingers almost touching thing? Purchased at a Santa Monica thrift shop by me with the faux italian posting name?
