What was done, Shewolfn was something between planning and unplanning. But it worked out fine if you ask me.

I'm being quiet, Shewolf, (you know this is impossible for any length) since at breakfast this morning (The Range Cafe on Menaul, more on that later) Dys was saying how he'd like to make the drive up the Sandias, as opposed to the tram, which he's done more times than he can count, and them maybe stop at Madrid, old town that is an art colony. He says it's a beautiful drive. And that sorta more makes sense for Saturday, or does it? I don't have any idea when people need to get to the airport if they are leaving on Sunday.

Adding confusion, there's also a Flying Star Cafe on that side of town, and it was said in some article that is the best one. A lot further away though, for people not going to the Sandias.

Or, if people who want to go on the Sandia ride of either type are not leaving on Sunday, then...

We also talked about maybe whoever is left on Sunday evening could get together at the Indigo Crow, the Corrales Place, but I'm not sure it's the one you're remembering, Roger. (I think that was Nate and Hanna's, or some name like that, but not sure.)

On the Range Cafe adventure number two - remember we all really liked our food at the Range Cafe in Bernalillo - this time only I lucked out.
Diane had the very same dish she had at the other place and said it wasn't near as good, and Dys' food was bland, which, really is not a good thing for some of us. I had the steak fajitas (my first fajitas ever, whoopee) and coleslaw, and was a happy camper.
There's another Range Cafe over on Wyoming (east side of town. Too far, I think, relative to the area most are staying in, but might work re those going to the Sandias.) But if Madrid is on the agenda, there is a plae to eat there, or at least get a snack.

Also, it was very crowded on a Sunday morning.

The Flying Star Menu, which doesn't include some specials (I loved their biscuits and gravy, which had turkey sausage and pearl onions and parsley).

JLN, we are disappointed that you and Lucchi won't be able to come, but you know that our invitation is always open.

If the picnic happens, it would actually be easier to have it at our house, for many reasons, including the ability or inability to sit on the ground and then be able to get up, the availability of bathrooms and all sorts of other reasons too numerous to mention.

Maybe we can decide at breakfast on Saturday am. It isn't a big deal if a mountain drive is preferred over the picnic. Picnic fixin's are easy to pick up and we will have all the other stuff anyway, picnic or not.

picnic pot luck.

Everyone bring something, enough to share with 3 or 4 people.

Namely me.

Roger, your memory serves you well. The Calico Cafe used to be located in Corrales, but it burned down, which is why they are now located on 4th north of Montano.

A request--will you all pm us with the name and number of your motel so that we can get in touch? We will also send you our phone number and address so you can find us.

I swear I am still trying to get there but the chances are sooooooo small. Thinks of any story he can bake up that includes being gone for a week.
Even possible job interviews.

Lord love a gut, I'd like all of us to meet.

Thus I now purpose some venue, if not before, on Sunday. And not at someone's house - oh, besides the fact that some of us may open our houses. (I dunno, I need to clean this slum) Me, I'd prefer a place, and I'll show up.

A park makes sense, given our multiplicity. I already gave you all a park. Diane said she'd list the parks. I'm not, and she is not, the worker here. Investigate and figure what you want. Or, are you all expecting to not move for a weekend?

If I sound hostile, I am. I've already done my a2k meeting organization time, and opted out on this one. You are all coming here and expect, what? Someone working out your schedule, since you are so busy?
As far as I can see, a great dollop of people want to land in D and D's patio for 72 hours. Give me a break. Especially since there are several people who'd like to skip that and meet with others elsewhere, at a picnic or not.

How about varying venues?

Close to no one on this thread ventures an opinion. There is an expectation, I apprehend, of something already in order.

Near fifty pages have gone by with few opinions.

What is this, the meeting of the lambs?

Jo, I think you have done a wonderful job of listing restaurants, various tourist attractions and all the rest.

For now, I think that we can all decide what we want to do at the Saturday breakfast or even Friday night, since quite a few are arriving then. It is also pretty clear that most are not looking for a venue. I get the feeling they really don't want a venue. Maybe once we're all together and someone mentions going to Madrid or Santa Fe or to one of the museums or the Indian Cultural Center, others will start to say, "Me too!"

You have really done too much and worried way too much. Maybe we should just relax and let it happen. We all like each other tremendously and there really doesn't seem like there's a lot to worry about.

What's the worst that can happen? Everybody sits around groaning that there's nothing to do? That will be the time when you should feel free to tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. That should truly make for a memorable roundup!

Um, in that park, no swings.

I didn't mean to pick this park as the question. There are probably others. But I do like it.

I like the idea of something in a park on, say, Saturday afternoon. But pot-luck, where everyone brings something? I make an incredible blueberry muerbe tieg, but I don't think the kuchen would survive the trip from Virginia.
