You're expanding my Yiddish vocabulary. What exactly is a shmatta?
A schmatta, bubbele, (also spelled shmatte, shmatta, schmatte) is a rag, a cheap, shoddy piece of junk.
Bubbele (also spelled bobeleh, bubeleh, bubela, etc.) has many specific meanings. It's general and most common meaning is a term of affection like dear, honey, etc.
Usage: I wouldn't be caught dead in that schmatta.
I wear A schmatta around the house, but when I go out, I put on something nice.
Come, bubbele, let's go for a walk.
