Finally. An interesting and unusual challenge. And some real creativity in the designs. I like the winning design a lot.

The losing designer deserved to go, not just because his design was poor but because he was such a blatant liar.

I have to assume that the judges don't watch and don't know about what goes on in the work room, but still. Blatant--and stinko.

Good episode.

@Roberta,
I haven't seen the latest episode yet. I'm running behind because my friend, who doesn't get the Lifetime channel, wants to watch it at my house. Maybe this weekend. Glad to hear it was a good one.

@Roberta,
I finally watched it today. It was a good one. I did not pick either the winner or the loser. I agree that the one who lost deserved to lose, but really, all of the outfits were good. I liked the winning design, too. I liked Christopher's the best, though.

@Swimpy,
Are you talking about the episode using newspaper? A few of them were really cool. I think the right person was sent packing, both for his poor design and weird lying.

Another interesting challenge. Movie genres.

Not sure I agreed with the winner.

Definitely disagreed with the loser. Granted his design this time was not good, but I think he had enough other good designs to give him a break this time out. The design of the second runner-up loser was blah. The design of the second runner-up winner was a winner in my book.

But what do I know?

@Roberta,
I liked the second runner up's best. I have loved everything he has made. Has he won any challenge yet?

I already forgot who won. (Oldheimer's is kicking in.) I really don't understand why they pick on Giordana (Is that her name?) She makes very nice stuff. Her flapper dress was beautifully made. Maybe her concept was a little blah, but the execution was very good. Didn't the loser win a challenge earlier on?

@Swimpy,
Yes, the loser won the challenge when he was paired with the guy who was booted last week. The one with the shmatta who lied about everything.

@Roberta,
You're expanding my Yiddish vocabulary. What exactly is a shmatta?

They view her as an expert dress maker, but not as a designer.

A schmatta, bubbele, (also spelled shmatte, shmatta, schmatte) is a rag, a cheap, shoddy piece of junk.

Bubbele (also spelled bobeleh, bubeleh, bubela, etc.) has many specific meanings. It's general and most common meaning is a term of affection like dear, honey, etc.

Usage: I wouldn't be caught dead in that schmatta.
I wear A schmatta around the house, but when I go out, I put on something nice.
Come, bubbele, let's go for a walk.

@Roberta,
Bubbele I know. Bubbie is my pet name for the dog.

Another ho-hum episode. The challenges this season are just plain dull. The designers are not all that interesting either. Nor are their designs.

I hate ruffles (one of my numerous eccentricities). Glad the ruffle lady bit the dust.

IMO, the winning designs were eh. So were the runners up.

Ruffle lady's initial presentation did not include ruffles, but rather rose appliques. Louise was chosen as a team leader based on her presentation. She didn't deliver what she promised and deserved to go home.

Poor Christopher cried! He was so confident that his designs would win, and the criticism was totally unexpected. Why do the judges seem to give Epperson a free pass every week?

@Debra Law,
I was embarrassed for Christopher. I've been rooting for him since he's a Midwest boy. Those outfits were ungodly. So out of character. I think that shirt dress could have been ok in a more flow- y fabric, but that other thing? What was that supposed to be? Not a good shape at all. I have liked both of these designers stuff but together they are not good.

I actually thought the two piece outfit from the winning team was pretty. I liked the skirt and it fit well. The dress was just funny shaped. I can't imagine that it sell to the average woman.

The winner was ok. Not great, but ok.

I think the wrong person was sent home. The garbage bag dress was a nightmare. Who would wear such a thing. Yuck. But worse still was the outfit with the pants. Horrible. The guy who lost was robbed. What's so bad about looking like a polka lady? Well, ok. Nobody wants to look like a polka lady, except maybe a lady who dances the polka. But it was better than the garbage bag and a lot better than the pants.

I think Epperson has a lot of potential, but he was in the bottom three many times and escaped the axe by the hair of his nose. It was time for him to go. Who do you think will land in the top 3 for the final showdown?

@Debra Law,
Sorry I don't know the names--yet. And I can think of only two that will make it to the finals. Shirin and the tall blonde woman.

@Debra Law,
I'm not ready to pick the top three just yet. I think Christopher has great potential. I don't know what happened last time. He and Epperson don't make a good team. Epperson alone is good, too. I think Carol Hanna and Shirin are very good designers. They are always in the top group. Very consistent. Althea and Irina are very good, as well. Logan, as cute as he is, is a bit of a snooze. He's never made anything very memorable. Nicolas is begging to be booted. Have I missed anyone?
