Besides, I always feel, it's a hell of a lot easier to be
monogamous, after you know what's out there.

Not a condemnation. An observation. Some of the best of us start thinking a bit fuzzy and getting a little tense if it's been a while. I think the animal biological nature is sometimes underplayed. A good romp can clear the head sometimes.
