Can ANYONE explain the logistics of Simon bowing out--resulting in a no-add to Arnold's poll numbers and an INCREASE in Bustamente's?

Me can't figgur.

California! Davis has also announced that he advocates voting "NO" on the recall and voting for Bustamante on the ballot. This is screwed up beyond belief. Another California referendum that hasn't been tested but when it is is likely to make the "system" look quite foolish. Remember, it was in California where the voters voted against pay TV!

Re Simon - they deny it, but the fine hand of the WH is right in there, pushing and moving. They're puting all their eggs in Arnie's basket, figuring, I guess, that their formidable packaging and presentation techniques will carry him through.

But Bustamante, besides bringing experience and know-how, and an ability to talk, apparently has that certain charisma, which proves pretty boys don't have all the fun. This is a rolypoly candidate, on the order of Fiorello LaGuardia, whom more and more people seem to relate to. And he's gathering the support of such things as the Teachers' unions, and some powerful voting blocs.

Arniold has taken on some characteristics of a cartoon character. My active republican California sister-in-law, who seemed so sure of him two weeks ago, today isn't.

My take is how is Ahhnold going to take a hiatus from being governor to have more nips and tucks done on his face? He now looks like an aging Republican woman.

I don't doubt for a minute that the GOP machine finally convinced Simon to bow out--but I would have bet heavily that one of the GOP candidates would have picked up Simon's numbers.

Oh! I think I answered my question. That other Repub....McCormick/McCork...something.... I do think he went up. Does anyone know?

But Bustamente REALLY went up. Anyway, enjoying the drama.

(Ahhnold may also be effective only if California was being attacked by androids! Hey, wait -- we are! Karl Rove has to be an android.)

Before Ahhnold coming on TV to explain himself and before Bill Simon announced his WH order (sic) to withdraw:

Bustamate: 35%
Ahhnold: 22%

LA Times Poll

Bill Simon ran his own poll and the positions were reversed.

Ahhnold 35%
Cruz 22%

Now what are the chances of that happening?

What's interesting is the tension between the (to me sensible, righteous) campaign on the part of Davis for a vote against the recall, and the very savvy, apparently successful Bustamante campaign which promotes illegitimacy of the recall but gives an alternative for the second half of the ballot.

I think it's all a bit whacko, but even with Arnold running, I don't think we can get the dems out of office here. He's running on pure name recognition at this point.

Too bad too, after the dems have shown such bad management skills, that we can't toss 'em out. With the taxes as high as they are here, there is absolutely no reason the deficit ever should have happened.

This whole thing is just like running a re-election with the same ballot giving one the opportunity to vote again for Davis but just in case, vote for Bustamante. Of course, it could work out that one would vote for recall and vote for Ahhnold. Those are likely the people who wasted their money at the cineplex for "Terminator III: He's Back and He's Running for Governor."

It seems most polls on the California race shows Ahnold winning except in Los Angeles where Busamante has the lead. Most polls also show that most approve the recall of Davis. c.i.

Man, that bar just gets lower and lower and lower.

Anybody voting for Mary Carey?

Quote:
Arnold Schwarzenegger once told a magazine interviewer about participating in an orgy with other bodybuilders, noting that "everybody jumped on" the woman involved and "took her upstairs where we all got together." The California Republican added that not every muscleman participated in the gang bang, "just the guys who can f*** in front of other guys. Not everybody can do that. Some think that they don't have a big-enough c***, so they can't get a hard-on."

Schwarzenegger's lewd talk appeared in the August 1977 issue of Oui, a now-defunct adult magazine published by Playboy. The five-page Schwarzenegger interview was conducted by author Peter Manso and flagged on the magazine's cover with the headline, "Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Sex Secrets of Bodybuilders."

At the time of the Oui story, Schwarzenegger, then 29, was appearing in "Pumping Iron," a documentary on the bodybuilding circuit. In the Q&A with Manso, today's gubernatorial wannabe spoke about his sex life, drug usage, and belief that men "shouldn't feel like fags just because they want to have nice-looking bodies."
