Actually its a bit more complicated than that...um, so I've heard.

More like....

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,
You put your right foot in,
And you shake it all about,

You do the hokey pokey
and you turn yourself around

That what it's all about.

Maybe he should have used that as an alibi. But Officer, I was just dancing....

Didn't the guy offer an excuse like "I didn't touch his foot on purpose. I have a wide stance when I use the bathroom."

That is not verbatim, but he did say something like that, and I can not for the life of me understand why the authorities and the public would not believe the man.

This is a gross miscarriage of justice and the man will be vindicated.

(That bit with his face in the glory hole is a different story however)

If Bush dropped nuclear bombs relentlessly for months, until the entire eastern hemisphere was blown off the map, and he did it, as with Iraq, for no particular reason, his defenders would still shout from the mountaintops about Monica Lewinsky going down on Bill Clinton.

It is all academic inasmuch Craig will make the decision on resignation. However, the voters will have their say next year.

Craig will not run. This guy couldn't get elected dog-catcher in Boise.

from the Wiki article:
Craig claimed that his state of mind was troubled at the time of the guilty plea because he and his family "have been relentlessly and viciously harassed" by the Idaho Statesman newspaper in the course of its investigation into allegations of Craig's homosexuality.

So, what do you do if you're stressed because you and your family are being relentlessly and viciously harassed about your alleged homosexuality? If you're Larry Craig, you take a chance and solicit sex in an airport men's room!!

Yep...makes perfect sense to me. Rolling Eyes

again....if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, chance are.......

I don't care if he's gay, straight, bi or a duck, it's the HYPOCRISY!!

I don't think it matters if he is guilty or not.

It has nothing to do with performing the duties of his job.

As far as wanting him to resign because he blamed the newspapers...well, he was in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. In his defense, if he is gay, he has been obviously repressing it/lying about it for a long time. It wouldn't be such an easy thing to just come out because of a newspaper reporter.
We didn't fire Clinton for lying to the press about cheating on his wife.

I don't think it's anyones business what went on in that restroom, or anyplace else that was private, as far a his, or anyones sexuality.

First, it was a public restroom in a public airport. This was not something done in private.

Second, The allegation on the police report is that he tried to use his position as Congressman to intimidate the police officer to let him off. This is a bad thing to do.

That being said... I don't think he should be forced to resign. I don't mind the fact that he has little chance for reelection.

There is a hell of a lot of difference between cheating on your wife and getting a blow job and soliciting sex in a public toilet.

A public restroom is exactly that: public. A child could have walked in at any time.

Re whether he should resign, why not let the people decide at the next election?

oh......?

last I looked, stalls in restrooms have locks on the door.

What's the diff between getting a blow job behind the locked oval office door with any number of secret service knowing what's going on 5 feet away (if indeed anyone bothered to lock the door) and then lying to the world about it (and a blow job is sex)....and getting blown behind a locked stall door?

Oh...someone could see 2 sets of feet?
Well then, someone could've stood or kneeled on the seat.

The main difference I can see is that one of the places is more likely to smell like ****.

Let me repeat myself: A CHILD COULD HAVE WALKED IN AT ANY TIME!

If it had been a men's room at a nightclub or bar where there are usually only adults, then BLOW AWAY!
But I'll be damned if I want my kid or any other kid to walk in to take a piss and hear some guy in the next stall getting off in another guy's mouth.

Is that plain enough for ya Chai?

You can't really stop that stuff from going on, happycat, whether you'll be damned if you want it happening or not. It could happen in any bathroom (or other place) anywhere in the world. Either tell your kid to walk out of there, pronto, and don't ever use public bathrooms again, or ignore what's going on.

Seriously. No one can prevent this stuff from occurring, unless there's a security guard present.

I'll just throw up my hands and give up.

Well, that certainly frees up my mind to think about other things.

Well, what are your options? Write letters? Organize a bathroom guard? Don't be ridiculous! Your only option is to deal with it.

Well, you can't force the guy to resign. But he ought to anyways.

If he doesn't, it's certainly going to be another issue which drags the GOP down in the next election - the kind of issue they just don't need. And his actions are pretty much indefensible, especially amongst the moralizing crowd known as the Republican party.
