I just got the news this morning. An old family friend in Chicago watched as the police killed her son on the dining room floor of her home. He was a drug addict, had been for a long, long time, and he got crazy yesterday and she called the police. The police managed to get cuffs on his wrists AND ankles and as he screamed for his mother and his sister to help him, they tasered him until he was dead.

Of course, the cops have another version. They're saying that he became unruly in the squad car and yadayadayada but his mother says that he was dead when they drug him out of her home.

The irony here is, his sister has been on the force for over twenty years, first as an officer and now as a detective. This isn't going to do much for family relations.

I'm sure I'll hear alot more about this as the days go on. I'll keep you all informed.

My heart aches for her. As far as Gefery goes, he made his bed. He'd been a drug addict for years and years, stealing from her, from his family, he wasn't **** to be honest but, Miss Lula should not have watched her son die like that, screaming for her to help him. Candy should not have watched her brother die like that. And I fear for the family. Another sister is on the force. How will she rectify this for herself? For her mother?

When you look through the US-headlines of the last three days, there are at least five more people killed (innocently) by the use of taser shots. (And ironically it didn't work on a pitt bull in Hamilton County which had to be killed by a deptuy by a shot, on Saturday, too.)

My question is, why were they heading for the hospital? St. Bernard Hospital. A little rinky-dink neighborhood hospital? Because it was closest and they knew that he needed immediate care. Because they fucked him up in the house.

Now, that's my take on it. There are too many questions unaswered in the story. I may be proven wrong in days to come but, from what I've read, from what I heard from my aunt this morning who spoke with Miss Lula last night and from what I KNOW about the CPD and how they operate, my educated guess is, his mother watched them kill her son. In her house. She said that he came out of the bathroom naked, they subdued him and cuffed both his wrists and his ankles.

Note there's nothing about him being cuffed or naked in the story.

Well, I suppose you've the best informations.

The Tribune reported earlier that "the man's mother, who had requested that her son be arrested for criminal damage to property, said Monique Bond, spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department".
"Bond said the family had placed a restraining order on the man."

Similar tv-video, which confirms what you said about the family's reaction.

I saw the video. I sure wish she'd had a chance to at least brush her hair but I suppose there were other things a bit more pressing going on.

Later today I'm going to call the lady who owns the building my mother lived in. The back of her building directly faces the back of Miss Lula's building while my aunt and Miss Lula have been friends for almost fifty years. She struggled so with Gefery. His father, several years before he died, had 'washed his hands' of him but Miss Lula, like so many mothers, held on. Her daughters insisted that she put that restraining order on him, I'm sure. But still she let him in the house.
