I have had this translation. What do you think?

Ad ducendum ac protegendum

This uses the verb "protegere" instead of "tueri". They are synonyms.

In the translations I provided I used first the imperative, which would be a
request or command addressed to whomever would provide guidance and
protection. Then, after a clarification from you, I gave you the infinitive,
"to guide and to protect".

This translation uses the gerund with "ad". This is often used to show purpose.
If you mean that the purpose of the person or thing described is to guide and
protect, then that is a good translation for you.

Thank you for those links, they have both proved helpful and thrown up slight variations, again needing clarification...but then i guess that is the beauty of language (unless you dont understand it and need it translated!!)

Yes, I'd forgotten that "ducere" ("to lead") has an irregular imperative, "duc".

So if your meaning is "Guide and protect" as a command or request, then I
agree with this translation.
