@giujohn,
If that was the case, then why does it do worse with a Republican Congress and a Republican President? If your argument is that Congress is what matters then shouldn't a Republican President with a Republican Congress not have a much better GDP growth than other times? The fact that it doesn't would imply that it is the Democratic President that is the only difference when making the comparison.

@giujohn,
Like I said, here's the inflation-adjusted GDP for Bush 41 and Clinton's two terms. The upward movement started before the GOP took over Congress. The GOP Congress only can be given credit for continuing what Clinton and the Democratic Congress started in 1992-1993.

Remember, Clinton took office in Jan 1993 and he had a Democratic Congress for the first two years. Your economic theory has once more been proven nonsense.

Hmm... so your argument is the first thing is better than the second but the second thing is not worse than the first?

An interesting reality you live in giujohn. It seems words have no meaning at all. You make Humpty-Dumpty seem like a bounder when it comes to words meaning whatever you want them to mean.

1. It is one of his defining qualities that he can do whatever he puts his mind to.
2. His desire for excellence is contagious and he posseses a unique gift for bringing that trait out in others.
3. He's always helped me be the best version of myself by encouragement and by example.
4. My Dad has taken great pride in my accomplishments.
5. He wrote "sweet" notes on all of my report cards.
6. My father always asks about my other family (with mother Marla Maples) to make sure that they are healthy and safe.
7. When someone close to me died, the first call I got to comfort me was my father. He got me through it with "unwavering support."
8. My father is a "natural born encourager," the last person who will ever tell you to lower your sights or give up your dreams.
9. People who know him well see that he is very friendly, considerate, funny, and real, strong, protective, kind, and endearing.

Sounds pretty good to me. Only someone desperate to find something wrong would describe it as "edged with sadness" as you quoted. Basically, she said that she has a great father who has always helped, supported and encouraged her and whom she loves.

1. Platitude
2. Platitude. "Unique?" Hardly.
3. How about by, I don't know, actually being a dad? Maples moved to California to raise Tiffany... about as far away from Trump as she could get. Speaks volumes, to me, especially that Trump didn't make any effort to be near his kid. "Family values," indeed.
4. Narcissist.
5. ...but never went to a back-to-school night, I'll bet.
6. Good for him.
7. I note he wasn't around to offer a hug, or cry with her.
8. Great. He can be the "encourager-in-chief."
9. "People who know him." So is he not showing his true self?

I'm glad you like Tiffany Trump. Good for you. I'm sure she's a great person, in fact. She likes her dad. Great. I'm glad for her.

Not sure why you're invested in trying to convince me that anything she says about Trump matters, though.

I'm answering your specific assertion, or endorsement of someone else's assertion, that the speech was "sad" and "vague." I don't think it was. She said, to summarize, that her father is a determined man who brings out the best in other people, has been kind to her and supported her, and whom she loves. You're right, it's a collection of platitudes, but it's relevant that someone very close to him has this view of him.

@giujohn,
BULLSHIT, show some evidence of that lie!

Raising taxes with Bill Clinton gave us no national debt, and paid off 12 years of Reaganomics debt and gave us one of the longest period of income growth in US history.

Which W promptly squandered as well as gotten us back into debt again, trashed Iraq and Afghanistan, gave birth to ISIS, murdered the Bill of Rights and decimated the real tax payers - the middle class. And almost doubled the number of police in a time where the US had been experiencing a 30 year DECLINE in crime.

Don't you ever follow the news?

Mark Cuban is betting Donald Trump will lose the presidential election, but end up with his net worth increased tenfold.

In a series of tweets Thursday, Cuban said there's a more than 50%a chance that the presidential race will end in Trump's "dream scenario" -- winning the popular vote, but losing in the Electoral College.

"All the glory. None of the work," Cuban tweeted.

A Trump loss to Hillary Clinton would "increase his networth 10x," the billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner said.

In follow-up emails to CNNMoney, Cuban wrote that after the loss, "It's truly the gains he could see. He would immediately turn into a good guy since he would no longer be a threat to the safety of the free world.

"He would be a former candidate who has a winning and compelling story. He may even get sympathy from people. That would be Huuuge for him."

Trump's campaign has been controversial, drawing protests at campaign stops that have turned violent at times. But Cuban theorized that an electoral loss would help the Trump name regain value.

"His brand would lose the negativity. He could do anything he wanted in business," Cuban wrote.

He doubts that Trump's campaign is built to win a national election. Cuban speculated on Twitter Thursday that Trump doesn't have the necessary "analytics" and "ground game" to win key districts in swing states. He added that Trump doesn't have the insight or will to make "face to face contact in precincts [where] he needs votes to tip a state."

Trump's campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

The "Shark Tank" host began his most recent lobs at Trump on Stephen Colbert's "The Late Show" Wednesday night. During a lightning round of one-liners criticizing the candidate, Cuban renewed his jab that Trump has exaggerated the size of his bank account.

"To be a billionaire, you have to have the billion part in your bank account, not just the air," Cuban said.

Cuban and Trump -- both businessmen turned reality show stars who claim to be worth more than $1 billion apiece -- have what Cuban has described as a "love-hate relationship."

Once a Trump supporter, Cuban became an outspoken opponent of the Republican nominee as his campaign began gaining traction.

Cuban told CNNMoney that he still favors Clinton "far more" than Trump.

"She is willing to build bridges between people rather than burn them. She understands the fragility of the global community and has the background to try to build coalitions to fight terrorism and build the global economy," he said.

Yeah, but isn't having your kids' appearance the focal point of your convention the same thing as being on trial and the only character witness you can find to vouch for you is your mother?

@Brandon9000,
If she said all those things (didn't watch it) then you are right, it does speak to the kind of father Trump is. It is not the picture we have from others who know him personally in his business so perhaps it only applies to his families. I imagine there are criminals who are good to their families. For all we know, Trump gave her money to say nice things about him, wouldn't surprise me. Or it could be real. It doesn't really matter, like Bickers said, it is akin to a mother giving a nice description under oath for her son or daughter on trial for something.

Although, I'm for Mrs. Clinton, I'm of the opinion that Mr. Trump now stands an excellent chance of beating her and becoming our next President.

I also believe that had Mrs. Clinton chosen Sen. Warren as her VP choice,
she'd have improved her chances of gaining the White House.

Time will tell, in more ways than one.

@Miller,
I think that Kaine probably helped Hillary.
She needed to put a white male on the ticket because that's the image of a leader we've all been brought up with, Obama broke the barrier only a few years ago so it makes sense to choose one as VP. Kaine won election in Virginia, which Obama just newly brought into the Democratic fold and which Trump absolutely has to win to get the presidency. Kaine from Virginia probably also helps with neighboring North Carolina as well, which Obama won the first time but lost the second.

And finally, Kaine is the only Catholic on the ticket. Looks like a good pick.
