For c.i., who seems incapable of understanding this sentence:

"Bush never pinned blame for the attacks directly on the Iraqi president."

This comment, though in large sized font, is dishonest, unprincipled and demonstrates a lack of intellectual integrity.

Then your beef is with Linda Feldmann, the author of the article quoted by c.i.

Indeed. Along with yourself if you find yourself wishing to echo the sentence, or in prior cases where you've actually said it yourself.

But possibly you reject the sentence as unrepresentative of 'the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth'?

No, I reject the counter-argument as unrepresentative of "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

Bush sides with Navy in sonar battle

He cites national security in aiming to override a judge's injunction aimed at protecting marine mammals off Southern California. An environmental group promises to fight his move.
By Kenneth R. Weiss, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
January 17, 2008
President Bush on Wednesday moved to exempt Navy sonar training missions off Southern California from complying with key environmental laws, an effort designed to free the military from court-ordered restrictions aimed at protecting whales and dolphins.

The president's directive was designed to short-circuit a long-running battle in which environmental groups have won court victories that frustrated the Navy's preparations for nine training missions over the next year, the first one set to begin next week

Now the whales are our enemy, because they prevent us from the protection of our country.

Perhaps the carcasses can be tied to the side of military vehicles in Iraq to protect the soldiers.

Yes, we've established that you always consider your version of the "truth" to be above reproach.

Bloody reality bears no relation to the delusions of this President
As a bomb explodes in Beirut and Israel kills 19 in Gaza raids, Bush takes his Middle East peace mission to Saudi Arabia (and signs off $20bn weapons deal with repressive regime)

The West may have a short memory. The Arabs, who happen to live in the piece of real estate which we call the Middle East and who are not stupid, have not. They understand all too well what George W Bush now stands for. After advocating "democracy" in the region – a policy which gained electoral victories for Shia in Iraq, for Hamas in Gaza and a substantial gain in political power for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt – it seems to have dawned on Washington that something might be slightly wrong with Bush's priorities. Instead of advocating a "New Middle East", Mr Bush, lying amid his silken sheets in the Saudi king's palace, is now pursuing a return to the "Old Middle East", a place of secret policemen, torture chambers – to which prisoners can be usefully " renditioned " – and dictatorial "moderate" presidents and monarchs. And which of the Gulf despots is going to object to that?

Not surprising since Bush has also instituted torture, "secret police," and defiance of both domestic and international laws. He's one of "them."

I'm not sure about China, but it might be inherent in your copy and paste software on your computer. It seems you're the only one having this problem.

If a Democrat is elected, perish the thought and I am not at all convinced it will happen, that will be torture on alot of us. Worse than waterboarding. What will you do about that, ci, or will you care about that torture?

This post is truly insulting to those who have actually been tortured.

I'm pretty sure those who have actually been tortured aren't going to be insulted by any posts on A2k.

In any case, those who have actually been tortured are probably much more insulted by efforts of the leftists to water down the term to include sleep deprivation and the playing of loud Marshall Mathers music.

It's interesting to see those approving of torture don't even bother to mention the water-boarding. Disgusting!

One of the biggest problems we have is a re-definition of what constitutes torture, by those that have an agenda against the administration.

I thought it was interesting that Huckabee gave one reason for wanting to move the prisoners from Gitmo to Leavenworth or somewhere here in the states is so the prisoners won't be treated so well. Of course, Huckabee says many surprising things, but he may have a point on that one. After all, he visited Gitmo, and he was also familiar with his own state prisons in Arkansas, and that was legitimate first hand observation from which he made that statement.
