further aftermath notes...

I want to say that I fully agree with the sentiment expressed here as regards what the VA owes these people who have gone through hell. The suicide statistics are enough to make one cry. And underneath all of that are all of those who won't choose to commit suicide but who will manifest deep and lasting psychological damage.
I also want to say that the VA nor anyone else ought to do a thing given word that the insane people who brought this war into being decide to commit suicide.
aftermath notes continued...
Politicization of the Justice Department under Bush administration.
In blue, the number of democrats targeted by the Bush justice department. In red, the number of republicans targeted.

These aren't "aftermath notes," these are the musings of Bernie, the Wayward Canadian.
But in this instance, I agree with the sentiment as well.
Nancy Pelosi's travel budget would be much better spent on veteran's mental health care. It's a start.
Hands across the border and all that. Tears too. If I think too much about all this stuff, I fall into a hole. But how shallow it is compared to these people.
There is a built in barrier to mental health care for folks in the military. Going to see "the shrink" isn't good for one's military career advancement.
A tad ironic that it is good for my household.
One suspects Lola has one on call.

Being schizophenic, I need two.
But...this is a Bush aftermath thread. And the aftermath is considerable. Once again, the consequences of war for profit and the huge growth of the american mercenary army where government/corporate agreements entirely purposefully set privatized individuals/companies outside of the law...
Quote:Another KBR Rape Claim Brings Scrutiny
December 13, 2007 4:11 PM
Justin Rood Reports:
Congress is asking questions about another ex-employee of government contracting firm KBR who claims she was raped in Iraq.
Letters to the Pentagon and the Justice Department today from Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. underscore congressional concern about a second alleged assault, this time of a woman from Florida who reportedly worked for a KBR subsidiary in Ramadi, Iraq in 2005.

Happening on Mr Bush's watch, this would be relevant too:
A glossary of US military torture euphemisms
Jon Henley
Thursday December 13, 2007
The Guardian
Waterboarding, according to the CIA - some of whose most senior officials are currently giving evidence before a congressional inquiry into the organisation's decision to deliberately destroy video recordings of two al-Qaida captives being subjected to the practice - is merely an "enhanced coercive interrogation technique". This magnificent phrase prompts the following brief reminder of the burgeoning lexicon of euphemisms now employed by the Bush administration to describe what the president himself is pleased to refer to as "the tools necessary to protect the American people".
Special methods of questioning Essentially indistinguishable from "enhanced coercive interrogation technique", this seems to be a broad-brush term covering a range of interrogation methods likely to arouse disquiet in the kind of people who worry about such matters as the Geneva Convention, the Convention Against Torture and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Black sites The secret CIA prisons and/or interrogation centres where the above techniques are practised.
Illegal combatants The people to whom the above techniques are applied.
Sleep management Deluded liberals may prefer the term "sleep deprivation".
Stress position Detainee is forced to stand erect for several hours. Or forced to stand erect for several hours, with his arms held out to the side. Or shackled to the ceiling with his arms extended, sometimes without his feet touching the ground. Whichever, it's certainly stressful.
Special renditions Er, kidnapping.
Fear up Ranges from leaving a truncheon on the table to throwing furniture around or, as the website Slate has pointed out, if the prisoner is religious, allowing him to think that he may face eternal damnation by threatening to show him pornographic images.
Sexual humiliation Detainee forced to strip naked, or adopt sexually explicit poses.
Mild, non-injurious physical contact A cuff round the ear. Or - whoops, we never meant to go that far - a broken leg.
Refined interrogation techniques Actually, that was the Gestapo's favourite euphemism. But then, they didn't practise torture either, did they?

No, no, no ........ this is the Bush Supporter's thread. You're looking for a different thread.
Maybe you could start it?

To locate these aftermath consquences elsewhere would be irresponsible. Here is the right place.
Imagine a group of young drivers who, after having been stopped with serious blood-alcohol levels, are now all sitting together in a special courthouse room watching some relevant, if uncomfortable, aftermath films. Imagine further that one of them turns to the fellow or lady running the film and sugggests, "This is quite offensive. We want to see Coors advertisements."

You are that woman.

Head off to the bar, grab a table and slap one another on the back as you seek to outdo each other with your prevarications, Tico.
But on a public forum it would be unconscionable for honest people to leave a group of fabricators alone, letting them spread their tripe across cyberspace.
Stop your whining and defend your "position".
And pigs will fly.
JTT, I like that; "pigs will fly." LOL

LOL...I like that. Bernie is the church lady. I'm going to wear this new identify for a bit. Feels good so far. I always suspected she was a tiger in bed.

I heard she suffers from male menopause.

Dang! I'll check that out and get back to you.
Will you take my word on the results or ought I to send a video tape?
The fewer visuals the better.
The barman in the republican bar is polishing his glasses and looking at the clock, because he doesn't have many customers left.
I personally would be happier if there were more Bush supporters here and if they had something, anything to be enthusiastic about.
Oh, I see the Bush family have made a cute Christmas video starring Barney the dog.
