Bella Dea - hang in there. I remember how uncomfortable the last few days were. Getting some sleep is a good idea - at least keep your feet up. Have hubby give you a nice foot & back massage (good idea to have some nice smelling lotions handy for that purpose even in the delivery room).

You're *almost* there! Sending good vibes your way....

this reminds me of the Friends episode where Joey is helping this one lady deliver her baby with a football cheer. hehe
"push him out! push him out!"
hillarious!!

shewolf.. August 3rd is my sister's b-day. I'll take that guess as well, for that reason only. "August thirders" are pretty cool. Very Happy

Bella, I also had a very long labour and I feel your frustration. Hang in there. She's coming :-D

The contractions are 4 minutes apart but the intensity hasn't increased.

What the hell????

What does the doc say?

(you may not necessarily experience an intensity in the contractions - pregnancy and delivery's definitely not a one-size-fits all event)

Call the OB. Ask them if you should stay, go to L&D, or come to the office for a check.

webmd suggests contacting the doc/hospital at the 5-minute-spacing-over-an-hour-of-timing point.

a midwifery site says
Quote:
The best and easiest way to find out whether you are in labor is to time your contractions for an hour. If you have had six or more contractions that last at least 30 seconds each and increase in intensity, chances are good that you are in labor.

Anecdotal evidence (in this office) is all over the place - from no contractions prior to delivery, to perfectly timed contractions on an increasing scale of intensity.

contact your doc/hospital or labour coach

Maybe you're better at pain management than you expected!

I definitely agree that the frequency is what you want to look at, more than the intensity.

Good luck!

Everyone is different, of course, but sometimes by the time you notice the change in intensity you are very close to delivery. Like, pull the car over at the gas station to deliver close.

On the other hand, if you get to the hospital too soon they can over-manage you in such a way that makes your odds of a c-section higher.

That was completely unhelpful. Sorry.

Laughing

I know just what you mean, though.

My labor dragged out for an eternity (I've told this story) and so when a friend of ours was pregnant with her first, we were telling her that we wished we would have stayed home longer, yadda yadda. So she listened to us a bit too well and barely made it to the hospital before the baby was born. (She was there, like, 20 minutes.)

Everyone's different.

I've never been a cyber-aunt before..

Well, wait, I take that back! But not a new-born cyber-aunt.

I keep telling real life people about the baby excitedly....they kinda don't get it, but that's ok.
