Plans for the Second San Francisco Gathering

I'll try to set up a pleasant & interesting midday meal & meeting place in San Francisco, for those interested on Sunday August 26. The place I have in mind is in the Marina district, on the waterfront, near the Praesidio. Who & how many will be there?

I may be able to help with transportation for those who need it. If so PM me.

(sounds like one of my favorite places... that I haunt when I go to that photo SF show)

I'll be there. If folks are interested in continuing to the evening, we could have dinner as well - I know a few sushi places that would knock yer socks off...

I chose Sunday at midday because that appears to fit Francis' schedule. I agree that other days or times may be better in some respects, and I am somewhat flexible on this

There are indeed lots of great places & locations in the Bay Area that offer good food; an interesting location; and a convivial atmosphere for a group of people who know each other, but haven't met. The place I have in mind offers these plus a great view of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate and the Marin hills - as well as easy parking. (for Google Earth viewers check out Latitude 37 deg 25' 19.1 N"; Longitude 122 deg 05' 06" W). Date & time of day do limit what is available there - Sunday at midday means brunch - a weekday lunch or dinner might be even better.

It appears that Sunday will be the only available time I have...

Well, I'm just booking my flight and hotel, so I'm in... I'm getting in Saturday around 9:00 a.m. and leaving the Monday around 1 p.m. so anytime Saturday and/or Sunday is great for me...

Based on responses so far I'll stick with Sunday, Aug. 26 at around 11:00 AM. I understand that so far Cicerone, Cyclo, Francis, and Mame will be there. (Dys & Osso -- there will be welcomes for you as well should you be able to make it). Any others??

Dress for the place is informal, (but, sadly, no jeans or equivalent). I'll provide directions & other details separately when we get a full list.

It's on the Bay side of Marina Blvd, just before the fork in the road at the Praesidio entrance and the Golden Gate Bridge access road. If you are on Google earth it is in the red roofed building behind the trees just beyond the yacht basin.

georgeob and Cyclo, Will you guys be available to meet with Mame on Saturday after 11AM? Maybe, one or both of you can recommend a place where we can "chat."

I can guarantee Sunday the 26th all day; going to have to check the work schedule for the 25th.

C.I.: glad to see that the SF gathering will be happening this month. Unfortunately, Aug. 26 is my mother's birthday, and if I went out of town that weekend I would never hear the end of it. Have fun and take photos.

Its very close to the old Palace of Fine Arts on the Marina. That should get you there. I'll be driving in and will be glad to pick you (and others) up at any convenient place along the way.

Merry Andrew and Seaglass, Any prefs for venues, sites, or anything else? MA, Since you'll be coming in on Sunday, do you want to have a meet for meals or drinks?
