Odd dips

Reply Mon 4 Jun, 2007 05:00 am
The last week Ive experienced odd things,I can only descibe as being like a sudden dip.Like my entire body shuts down for a split second,it starts mid chest then my eyes shut a bit, I can feel myself 'going' then Im ok again.

Ive never fainted or been unconscious so cant tell you if its like that.
Luckily Ive been sat down each time.

Any idea whats going on?

mg,

dunno what that could be, but you should call your doctor.

i passed out on my feet on a crowded bus last year.

we were stuck in traffic for a while, and my lower back started aching.
then the bus took a curving exit ramp, which made me dizzy and nauseous.

soon thereafter i passed out.
everything just sort of shut down.

the feeling was like being enveloped by a dark fog.

when i came to, the driver pulled over to let me out, and i walked it off.

it was an odd, scary feeling.
so far it hasn't happened again...

It could be a number of things from "no big deal" to serious, but there is no way for us to know that. I would strongly suggest that you make an appointment with your doctor, posthaste.

You really need to find out what is going on. You don't want to have one of these incidents when you are driving!

Yep, see a doc. Pay attention to when these dips occur in relation to when you've last eaten. If they occur 10 - 30 minutes after eating, pay attention to what it was you ate and how long it had been since you'd eaten previously.

Could be any number of things, but I had a very similar experience with hypoglycemia.

Hypoglycemia has been mentioned before re my many ailments.
Its the one where I need more sugar isnt it?

The idea of eating more sugar scares me as Im the size of a house as it is!!

No, it doesn't mean that you need more sugar. It means that your body (specifically the pancreas) is cranking out excess insulin to deal with the sugar it sees. This is usually caused by eating something sugary (even white bread) after going without eating something for extended periods of time.

For example, I would skip breakfast and then have a Coke with lunch. The sugar in the Coke would flatten me about 20 minutes after lunch.

When you said "odd dip" I at first thought you had had sex with Slappy Doo Hoo, but now that I read with more scrutiny I realize I was mistaken and will now back gracefully out of this thread.

material girl- We could all speculate 'til the cows come home, but that won't solve anything. You need to talk to a doctor, and describe your symptoms. He will probably order some blood work, and maybe some scans, according to what he surmises. Then you can go on from there.

I say we leave the doctors out of this. We should be able to handle this on our own.

Ages ago I said to my doc ' I feel lightheaded, like I dont exist' (dips are a new thing), he asked when 'I said all the time' then he just didnt say anything or offer any suggestions of what it could be so I said 'my jobs dull, maybe its that, he says 'yes thats it, your fed up with your job just like most people' !!!!!WTF!!!
