Also, while short lived, they are thickest on the highways when traveling at 70 mph........ Oh, what a mess......... Shocked

Reminds me of an old saying - "Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield."

I grew up as a child in West Tx - on the Texas and Pacific RR line. Most of my friends were Mexican children my age. So - - - the way they rave about things =
"Whoy, whoy, whoy !!" In tiny shrill voices.....

Ah, the good old days.

Happy 5th of May to everyone....... Very Happy

Although, we actually all get to do this over on the other 5th Very Happy

-------------

It' the 4th today (just editing) and I have creaked.

Thanks, Stradee.
Our May bugs ( Melolontha melolontha) belong to the family Scarabaeidae.

When I was little we children had to go out and collect them. We were paid some money for each full shoe box. Then the bugs were either drowned or burned.

Happy weekend to all and Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Bits of that song were running through my head last night ... I decided I needed to go look up the full set of lyrics. Wow, indeed. I recall the video being quite striking at the time (probably on youtube now).

I sometimes forget how powerful a songwriter Billy Joel can be.

The first hatchling has been spotted here. We've been following this peregrine falcon nest on another thread - now that the first hatchling is out ... I want everyone to take a peek (5 eggs - this could get very fluffy over the next couple of weeks)
