Quote:
In 1982 Moon established the Washington Times newspaper as his flagship publication in the United States, and as the major conservative alternative to the Washington Post in the nation's capital. From the outset, the well-established and highly acclaimed Post dismissed the Times as nothing more than a daily nuisance. However, with Moon's practically unlimited financial resources the Times survived, reaching its apex in terms of visibility when then President Ronald Reagan acknowledged that it was the one newspaper he read thoroughly. Stridently conservative in its editorials and op-ed pages, the Times has been a consistent money-losing proposition for almost two decades.

Tony Blakely, one of its top editors and columnists, still is on some of the news talking shows, particularly on FOX.

Good info! Thanks

Most of my reading is done at blocs...Truthout, Huffinton...Maggies sites.
The news media per se seems more worried about ratings than reporting, the same story runs on all four news networks in unison. yikes

When Moyer left PBS he said ""We have got to nurture the spirit of independent journalism in this country," he warns, "or we'll not save capitalism from its own excesses, and we'll not save democracy from its own inertia."

Bill Moyers' NOW - 2002 transcript
http://www.pbs.org/now/transcript/transcript117_full.html

Very sad documentary, but i still haven't seen comprehensive coverage of lead poisoning from any of the networks. Congress need enact one bill banning the use of lead from all products, imo.

Yes, and a good Sunday it is here, although warm, soon to be hot, and very dry.

Dragged the hose around again in preparation for a two-day absence to return to Durham looking for a house to purchase.

Moved wildflowers around into position in flower beds. They had set up their habitat in the lawn and I took pity on them and rescued them.

Listening to "Great Sacred Music" on WPCE, www.theclassicalmusicstation.org, and you can too.

Does anyone not from Kenya win marathons any more? In the Boston Marathon a coupe of weeks ago, Kenyans came in Numer One, Two and Three.

Kenyans are number 1 to number 7 here.

There was an article about the runners from Kenia in our local newspaper. In German
There are about 500 professional runners from Kenia or Ethiopia. Winning a race is a way to climb up the social ladder.
The prize money, 10 000€ here, even if they have to pay their managers, is a good income.

The results for the ladies:
1. Luminita Talpos (ROM) 2:32:21 -
2. Martha Markos (ETH) 2:35:45
- 3. Susanne Pumper (AUT)

Admiring those who run. I am a hammock potato.

Kenyan runners determined! Very Happy

Beautiful weather few days, expecting rain again though - will be a good change from summer temps in April!

Busy with working both at work and home. Mulch/seed taking hold... New lawn springing everywhere! Ta da

sue, good house hunting! Smile

Deer are visiting daily - babies are grown now, the male spoting new antlers, the female almost tall as her mom. New deer vistiors also...mom and two youngins.

Menagerie of birds everywhere! Finches, hummingbirds, wrens, jays, quail....a challenge for the lil' critters attempting to all fit on feeder roosts {well, not the quail or jays - they have their own 'general store' feeder} but a joy to observe none the less.

Good day WildClickers!

62 acres plus! Hurray!

Good morning, early risers.

Up and clicked here in Palm Springs, Ca. Coachella Fest(P.S. is in the Coachella Valley) is over (alternative music festival) and we set the "hottest spot in the country" record 106 F. Poor kids must have baked seeing Beck and Queens of The Stone Age. Next up: Country Music Jam! Sleepy little P.S. has become a Mecca for music in the last few years with the Festivals and Indian Casino Showrooms. Linda Ronstadt is here June 2. Andrea Bocelli sang under the stars last season. I remember when the town still had 'hitching posts' for horses, the saturday matinee cost 35 cents and Charles Farrell(the actor) was mayor!

Have a great week my Wild amigos y amigas.
