I think okie arrives at conclusions based on credible evidence, credible sources, common sense and logic, and that ican touch and support.

On the other hand, I think your opinions, cice, lack not only credible evidence and credible sources, but they lack common sense and logic. You arrive at conclusions no rational human will buy. You persistently allege those who disagree with you lack credible evidence, while providing zero evidence of your own, which all by itself constitutes evidence of your incompetence that you never seem to appreciate or understand.

@McTag,
I think the word liberal has been corrupted from its dictionary defined meaning into the meaning of the word covet by people who covet, that is coveters masquerading as liberals.

Leaving Iraq: Last U.S. Combat Brigade Departs

Quote:
According to the Pentagon, the combat mission isn't over, and it won't be until the end of the month, as planned. CBS News correspondent Whit Johnson reports that 6,000 combat troops will stay in the country until that deadline is met, according to defense officials.

"To say the combat mission has come to an end because this brigade pulled out" is wrong, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told CBS News.

"We still have plenty trigger pullers there," a U.S. Army spokesman told CBS on Wednesday evening.

Anther 50,000 troops will stay in Iraq for a year, beginning in September, in what is designated as a noncombat role. They will carry weapons to defend themselves and accompany Iraqi troops on missions (but only if asked). Special forces will continue to help Iraqis hunt for terrorists.

"We're going to transition from combat operations to stability operations," U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. Stephen Lanza told "The Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith Thursday.

U.S. officials close to the Obama administration's Iraq planning, meanwhile, have told the New York Times that a swarm of civilian diplomatic and security workers will soon be faced with the daunting task of keeping both themselves and the Iraqi people safe, as American troops prepare to leave the still-fragile democracy behind.

@revelette,
That's a joke, right? Iraq has been in turmoil for over a thousand years. Our intrusion into their politics only ended up killing more innocent Iraqis. Exactly what was meant by Bush's "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED?" That Saddam didn't have WMDs, and we killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis?

Bush's claim of "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" was obviously a claim that the mission of the US aircraft carrier, on which that banner was displayed and on which Bush gave his speech, was accomplished.

Violent deaths March 20, 2003 thru February 28, 2009 = 99,452

Approximately 90% of these deaths were murders by al-Qaeda and other terrorists trying to end the new Iraq government. The remaining 10% were mistakenly killed by coalition and Iraq government troops.

@cicerone imposter,
I am not sure where you got the article was talking anything about mission accomplished. In fact, the officials in the article stated that the combat mission is not over but will by the appointed time. After that I think there will a residue of troops to support Iraqis own security forces (such as they may or may not be.) My understanding is that the difference will be that our military forces will only in a supporting role with the Iraqi forces. In other words, they will be in charge. I think it is a good thing all around. (if I understand it right)

@okie,
Everything positive that happened in the second half of the 20th C, happened because the liberals -- most often, at the grass roots level -- championed it. The liberals have not always been successful: too many liberal programs were watered down through the process that is law making. However, unlike the American right, liberals are not a destructive, selfish force.

Clinton recently gave an interesting speech on how the country brings in the Dems to fix the damage done by the Reps. If one thinks back, this is all too true.

remember the case of the woman suing McDonalds for hot coffee spilling on her and burning her? Surely a liberal thought process was at the basis of that case, we all know that here.

Do you know this woman? Did you ever speak to her, face to face, asking her what her political philosophy is and who she voted for over the years and what bumper stickers have been on her cars?

One could just as easily say, "Surely a conservative, forever discontented bitch who complains about everything that doesn't suit her!"

Saying something does not make it true or accurate or real. Conservatives are just as prone to frivolous lawsuits as any other political group.

Besides, many liberals avoid McDonalds because many liberals are against chain stores which destroy competition and initiative and have contributed to the sorry state of the American economy.

Finally, how dare you assume to speak for anyone but you, as you did with the phrase, "we all know that here?"

Try to think a little deeper, pom. Conservative thinking has as one of its primary principles, that of taking personal responsibility, that is what conservatism is about. Any dolt knows that coffee is going to be somewhat hot, and so it makes perfect sense for normal people to take that into account if they go through a drive through and order coffee. Also in my post that you did not include was my mention of a burglar falling through a man's roof when trying to break in, and so the man that owned the place gets sued for an unsafe roof. I made the statement that such an action is probably due to liberal thinking, which says blame it on somebody else, do not take personal responsibility. And I think it has been liberal judges that have encouraged such lawsuits as well, by giving them credence. I believe I am totally accurate in my comments here.

@cicerone imposter,
Conservatives are among the most irresponsible people in the world. They use plastic bags. They do not recycle. They overheat their homes in winter and over air condition in summer.

When I was in college and grad school, many girls avoided conservative men like the plague because they were sexually pushy which is far from responsible.

That personal responsibility stuff is just a lie of the sort Leo Strauss would endorse, a PR tactic.

Its this kind of outlandish statement, when you use a broad brush to paint, when you have no idea what "most" conservatives do or do not do, that makes you just as bad as okie and ican.
