@edgarblythe,
Good luck! Persistence is the key to success.
Going to be grass mowing today. I mowed over half in the back during the week. It was tough, because I let it go for so long. The front has been fairly well maintained. I have been taking better care of the front this year. Along the fence, Rocky has worn the dirt down into a deepening rut. I don't mind that, except it holds water when it rains, and he still runs it. I am ready for the fall. This needing A/C every day is not a happy thought.
After giving Rocky a steady diet of weight loss dry food and his snacks severely curtailed, he weighed in today at 108. Last month, when he was all blowed up and pudgy looking, he weighed 108. Well, I will weigh him again next month. The person that weighed him said "But he was at 55 pounds when you first brought him here." "But he was living at the SPCA," I said. Last month he was so pudgy he could not use the doggy door. Now he slips right through. Oh, well.
I am beginning to gather information about clowns for my next story.
@edgarblythe,
Don't forget to include Red Skelton.
When I worked at the apartments an exterminator told me that instead of trying to poison spiders, the way to deal with them is to remove their webs every time they put one up. They get tired of it and go someplace else. My experience: For years, every time I walk around the house, I have to remove a spider's web. Sometimes it moves a small ways, but invariably returns to the same spot. Also, in my kitchen, a spider took up residence under the wooden shelf I fixed over the sink. Every night, I run a damp cloth over the area and every morning I still feel a spider web against the back of my hand when turning on the water. But I can never spot the spider. This has been going on for months. I don't intend to kill any of them. I do wish they would heed that exterminator's advice.
@edgarblythe,
Looks like that spider is outsmarting you! LOL
It's likely to get in the fifties and sixties at night within the week. It can't come too soon.
It has been nineteen years since the boys with the white shirts and ties knocked on my door to discuss the state of my soul. Right after I moved in here they came. I was rude to them to the point they left without arguing. I believe I was blacklisted. But a new generation of door knockers is on the loose. I told them I simply did not want to discuss this stuff until they gave up. The whole time the dominate character engaged me, Rocky was jumping all over the other one. A hundred pounds of eager dog is not pleasant. I secretly smiled as the guy tried to fend him off. They finally left. I will start locking the gate again.
@edgarblythe,
Wish there was a video. Naw, not really but it sounded like a fun thing to think about.
BTW, you watching the Texans-Pats game?
Down to the mid-to-upper-50s here again tonight in upstate NY by the Hudson Valley and CT border. We've been yo-yoing back and forth with hot days but drier than it typically is supposed to be
Supposed to go back up to mid-80s tomorrow. In a few days we'll be back to more season lower 70s and mid 50s at night
In a few days it may be wet but it will be cool. Hosanna. Me n Rocky can start doing more out of doors.
I am watching the game in bits and pieces. I watch a series in an hour, so it will be nearly over when I tune back in.
@edgarblythe,
It's about 6:15pm, and it's 67 degrees with the sun still out.
It was already 2 PM when I needed the A/C today. It's getting gooder all the time, as the Beatles have said.
Much of the coolness and rain is veering off to the west.
@edgarblythe,
We'll see, maybe I can get out there and weed..
I've been transplanting plants to make the yard attractive. It's nice to have a dog that does not dig up everything you plant.
I've had it with the news to the point of feeling almost physically ill. No more for a while.
I watched the debate a few minutes, football a few minutes, repeatedly. No further comment.
