Re my last post, on the way to Vegas, we stopped off to introduce ourselves to Bob (dys), Diane, Osso and Roger. I was dazzled by the experience and only wish the moment could be recreated, even extended quite a bit.
Right now I have tears in my eyes, after reading this elsewhere. It was written by a man that was a high school friend of my nephew and member of a band they played in. He calls me "Uncle" when we communicate.
Sometimes I wonder if the people who are supposedly my friends even realize for a MOMENT that they make some of the most disrespectful references to black people? Who am I kiddin'? No one cares about who they offend on FACEBOOK. I'm starting to wonder if HATEBOOK is a more befitting title? It's all of the racist (albeit unrealized, possibly), degrading, disrespectful posts that I see everyday by some of the people I've known for more than 30 years that have me beginning to dread logging into facebook. You name it, I'm sick of hearing about it.
The part that annoys me, is that there are a MULTITUDE of things that I want to post on here, but I DON'T because I know that there are friends who might be offended by it. When I see a crime committed by someone who just happens to be white, I NEVER say comments that would point out that he's white, but when I see a post about a crime that someone black commits, I see comments like "The natives are restless", or "F***ing SAVAGES, that's all they know how to do". AGAIN, these are posts made by some of my friends...
The media is stoking the fires of intolerence, and people are walking where they're being led like sheep. I'm BLACK, and guess what? I'm proud, not because I AM, but BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THE LORD MADE ME, and when you show BIGOTED TENDENCIES TOWARD SOMEONE OF ANOTHER RACE, you're questioning the LORD'S designing skills. WE ARE ALL HIS WORKS OF ART, but don't have the unmitigated GALL to think yourself to be designed BETTER than ANYONE else, because HIS love is distributed EQUALLY... I'm done ranting...
You who disagree can delete and block me now. I have enough unnecessary stresses in my life, I don't need you too. May God help you to realize that you're wrong. Those who are standing right beside me? Hey, I LOVE YOU ALL... The countdown's on to see how many false friends delete/block me.
My husbands PSI was slightly elevated and his urologist suggested a biopsy because of the PSI and other factors (Im suspicious). After the first biopsy, the doc said if he developed a fever to call immediately. Biopsy was done on a Friday and on Saturday he developed a fever and felt terrible, the doc on duty was useless and if you're familiar with how the biopsy is done, infection often occurs. I was pissed and took him to the emergency room because the Urologist was unavailable and the Doc on call was useless. Fortunately, the biopsy was negative, but the anxiety that occurs waiting for results and the dread he feels every time his PSI is measured.
His crack urologist suggested another biopsy 2 years later, this time I told the doc I want the antibiotics before he's sent home.
Farmerman, thank you for telling your story, I think this will ease my husbands anxiety.
@glitterbag,
Don't you mean PSA? Prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
PSI is about inflation (pounds per square inch)
Glad to hear that he's doing OK.
As I've learned as I've delved into the tests and my Hemo/Onco docs advice, some slight fluctuations in PSA from interval to interval are acceptable. The absolute number is not as important as the acceleration from test to test - if PSA were to increase. So you go form 0.5 to 0.8., it's no biggy; however, if you go from 0.5 to 4.0 that is a medical concern.
@edgarblythe,
Me too, me too.
I remember it as rushed to get there. I think you'd already gathered at Dys and Diane's; Roger picked me up, maybe had been there already? and you two needed to get on the road soon. I've no idea what we talked about. Oh, yes I do, your wife talked about the driving rigamarole to get here (which I relate to quite well). I may have told you I liked your shirt, as I've done since, a time or two, that was a good photo to remember, just nice.
Who took it? I don't remember.. Dys? probably before I showed up on the porch, or was it? You didn't take a photo of me out of courtesy re my funny eye. I might have said ok if you asked but I'm famous on older a2k for blasting a guy for taking a photo of me looking balloon fat (hi, Walter); luckily sometime later Walter and I still regard each other well after all my tack spitting.
If you pass this way again, I'd love to see you two.
@ossobuco,
I would have to come into unforeseen money to go anyplace at all. I always intended to come back, but outrageous fortune prevents it.
I forgot where I posted those pictures.
Being home all the time has changed some of my habits already. For one, I have not paid attention to any soap operas, since I was a kid and my mother had Just Plain Bill, Oxydol's own Ma Perkins and the like on the radio every day. But, to spend time with mrs edgarblythe, I let her draw me into watching The Bold and the Beautiful. In between the insane episodes of jealousy and partner switching, I picked out stories highlighting the way the homeless live and such like. Recently, one character fell for a woman, whom he moved into his home and made the center of the modeling empire, having no clue that she is transgender. Everybody that discovered this expected him to lose it completely when he found out. Turns out, he gave up his position as CEO to hold on to her. He still wanted her. Her father had given her such a hard time, she had abandoned her family some time back. When he appeared in the storyline, he appeared to be struggling to come to grips with his son becoming a woman. Just when you expected him to do something drastic, he hugged her and told her he had come to see his little girl. Soap or not, it put a tear (maybe two) in my eye.
The flat screen TV we bought just after analog TV went extinct quit working and I trashed it. We took out the old TV, with the converter box, and were happy enough with it. I don't like buying products that break so soon. But, the other day, my mother in law got moved to a better nursing home. The nice flat screen TV she had been using could not go there, because too big and because she actually no longer watches TV anyway. We brought it home. It works beautifully but the remote had been lost. Likely, somebody picked it up with the bedding when it needed changing. I went to Walmart and could not decide which remote to try on an "Element" brand TV. I asked the man at the electronics counter which to buy. He got to digging around in the cabinet under the counter and came up with a remote. "This is an Element remote," he told me. "Just put batteries in and it's ready." I asked how much it costs. "Nothing," was the reply. That made my day. A nice TV and remote, all in the same week. I get to watch American Ninja Warriors and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp in style.
@edgarblythe,
yay, Edgar. Now there's something to smile about.
My daughter is moving back from Colorado. In fact, she has driven far enough to send a picture of the Welcome to Texas sign. I expect her in Houston sometime tomorrow.
My daughter's car broke down, near Fort Worth. The mechanic promised to fix it over the weekend, but was not able to get it done. It's a KIA SUV, with a drive shaft problem. I had originally said it could not be done that quickly, particularly on a weekend. She came on, after being picked up by my other daughter and her husband. They will go back by private plane (my son in law has a friend) to pick it up.
I put my wood work on Craig's list. Sales pending, but not consummated.
I haven't heard from my daughter today. Don't know if she has gone for her car yet or what.
I had to open up the gate to move something out to the truck. Me with my hands full, Rocky could easily have slipped by me, but didn't. I guess our last episode, in which I almost had to strangle him with a choke chain to get him back in the yard, convinced him of my sincerity, about staying strictly home.
Saw my daughter today. Her son drew this picture of Rocky.
I put some objects on Craig's List. A few weeks ago, a man emailed he was coming to purchase one. He offered to meet me at a service station, or if I preferred, at my home. It had to be early in the morning, because of his job and because he has an invalid wife to care for. I messaged him and then waited, but he did not show. About a week ago, he emailed an apology for not showing. He said his job had an emergency. He offered to pay me by mail and to add some to it for a delivery service. He said, "After you have the money in your pocket, I will arrange for the delivery service." I got a text that told me the money was on the way; would I please remove the item from Craig's List. Today, he let me know the check would be in my hand today, and there was an email with additional information. Here is the email:

He wasted so much of my time. I wish I could nail him, for the law, but I don't know how.
@edgarblythe,
That looks and sounds pretty scammy, Edgar. I'd keep that one at arm's reach if I were you...
@FBM,
I agree with FBM. This has many red flags popping up. I'd not go through with the transaction.

This has all the earmarks of a scam. What will happen is you will deposit the check, withdraw your money and wire the rest to the mover only to find out that this guy's check bounces and you get stuck with all the costs plus the bounced check fees.
@FBM,
That's why I wrote I would like to nail him for the law. I never would deposit a check from a stranger and then send his "friend" money before the check clears or bounces, even if I know and trust someone I wouldn't do it. Another thing that infuriates me is, if I deposit a bogus check, my bank will penalize me probably 20 to 40 dollars.
