Had a fairly easy day. Went to Home Depot to buy the final two exterior lights. Then cleaned out a stopped sink and worked on a dishwasher. Installed one of the lights. Consulted with the other maintenance guy over a cracked window. I advised him he could get a precut replacement in a spot I built for glass storage. But when I went to check the glass, the new lead maintenance had changed things up. Instead of the precut pieces we had always bought, he purchased a large sheet, presumably to cut his own glass. Screw that. I gave up and advised the other maintenance guy to wait on the lead to handle it.
@edgarblythe,
ppffffft, and not on you.

I was given Killing Jesus, yesterday. After the first few pages, I really don't want to read it.
What can you expect from Bill O'Reilly?
@wmwcjr,
I don't know the giver very well. I certainly don't understand gifting such a book without a clue as to the recipient's reading habits.
@edgarblythe,
Needless to say, I concur. I'm sorry you didn't get a better book.
What ya gonna do? The same person gave me Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, last Christmas. I keep intending to find out if it's any good, but it has lain on my desk, by the computer, one solid year.
Another glorious weekend. Of course, when one works my hours, most weekends are five days long.
My sister will be here in a few hours. Said she has some free wood for me to use on projects. Can't go wrong with free.
@edgarblythe,
Wood and hexagon shape comes to mind.
@cicerone imposter,
These are deck boards and 2x4s. Still a thinking.

You'll never write a worthwhile book, ed, if you take the readers into account.
@spendius,
I am too eccentric to ever do that, spendi.
I let myself be talked into taking after hour calls for today and tomorrow. Somehow, the junior maintenance man found himself doing multiple weeks in a row and I took pity on him. Never again (fingers crossed).
2014. Each year becomes more crucial than the last, to put the brake to growing American fascism. The only real cure is to put the fear of losing elections into the elected officials. The only way to do that is an energized electorate, aware of the problem at all.
Now, a sad word. Punky the dog died recently. I could not write about it before. I was lonesome in the house by myself, while mrs edgarblythe worked, so we picked out another dog from the SPCA. I was unenthusiastic about Punky, early on, because mourning for Holly had never abated. But, as time went on, she took a place in my heart in her own right. I miss her, and always will. But, the new dog, Rocky Balboa, keeps me on my toes. He is a shepherd/lab mix, nearly two years old. He is taller than was Punky. His whole life centers around rubber squeaky chickens, like the ones Punky played with. He is an unruly fellow. Likely kept out of doors and mostly ignored, before. The first thing I had to teach him was to keep off the counter and don't grab everything in sight to chew up. His color is brindle and black. He would look mostly shepherd, were it not for the floppy ears.
@edgarblythe,
I'm sorry about Punky. It's so strange without a dog when have been attached to one.
Rocky Balboa sounds wonderful already, not to mention very handsome. You've got a new hobby, dog training...
The neighbors are likely tired of hearing me tell Rocky, "Don't jump on people;" "Don't bite."
@edgarblythe,
Sad to hear about Punky. Very sad.
Rocky sounds like he's got lots of potential--and energy.
Happy new year, edgar.
@Roberta,
Happy new year, boita, osso and the rest.
@edgarblythe,
RIP Punky dog...
happy new year to you the missus and rocky the dog, my friend.
@Rockhead,
Back at ya. I didn't name Rocky Balboa, just kept the name they had on him at the SPCA.
