Are we really going to war in yet another country? Ah, well, I've got gadgets to keep me entertained and a full belly. I will think about it tomorrow.

I really enjoy the Bob Dylan bootleg series. These albums capture the man in his heyday doing material I often have not heard before.

I have a four day weekend. On Friday I was to come in at three, but when that man cancelled our appointment, I was advised to stay home. Upcoming is Memorial Day and I am not on call at all, Sam is I. However, the ointment on the fly is, I worry about the swimming pool enough that I will tend to it sometime today.

These days of inactivity are the best treatment my legs could have had. On the job I walk, climb ladders and stairs, crawl or dig, for four straight hours, only rarely pausing to sit. The H3O, the hot/cold treatments, the Osteo-Biflex, and such, can only help so much. After a while we must simply give the legs a rest.

I found some forgotten pictures of Henrietta and Lulu, the chickens I kept so long ago. I loved them the same way I have my dogs and cats. When these two birds saw me about they hurried to me because they liked perching on my shoulders. I could walk outside and say loudly, "Come on, chickens," and they would come running. So trusting were they that I could open my truck door and wave my hand to cause them to jump in without hesitating. They were monarchs of the yard and the cats hid when they saw them coming. That had to be well over twenty years ago and I still miss them.

@edgarblythe,
Your job requires you to be physically active and alert. Those are good things, but understand the need for rest at regular intervals.

@edgarblythe,
Cluck!

As a devotee of the ancient and venerable Sumerian religion of Chicken Consciousness I am failing in my piety if I don't wave my elbows up and down and make squawking noises when the image of a chicken appears. Or an egg. Even a drumstick.

But I lapse a great deal I must admit. I close my eyes when passing butcher's shops.

@edgarblythe,
Me too! As a matter of fact, my wife and I had lunch at Aqui today, and I had the small burrito with chicken and guacamole with salad, and a Corona to chase it down.

@cicerone imposter,
I had a couple apple ciders with my chicken these past two weekends. I had never tried the cider before. One was mild. The second one had more alcohol. Mighty smooth stuff.

We have various hanging plants at work. I better go in and water them today. If I don't we will end up with dirt only pots. Might as well check the pool too. Extended week ends are great, but responsibility never truly ends.

Labor Day. As far as I am concerned, my job is as valuable as anybody's. The only drawback, it does not pay as well as a CEO.

First day of the work week and tomorrow is already hump day.

Inspiring. The woman who just swam from Florida to Cuba at age 64 is ample proof that age and gender cannot hold back the truly motivated among us.

Coming off a four day weekend. Thanks. I needed that.

I used to drag a sack and pick this stuff. I was pretty young.

Kidnapper bastard Ariel Castro hanged himself. It would likely have been a better thing for him to endure a lifetime being a prisoner instead of a quick out like that. Not that I am omniscient enough to be certain or anything.

Many of today's musicians are as talented as one could ask, but their styles and songs rarely touch me enough to want to listen. Ray Charles was quoted as saying, "If I were fifteen, I would be doing rap. But it doesn't touch my heart." Something to that effect. So I am not really dissing every artist I don't listen to.

@edgarblythe,
I think us old fogies get contaminated by our era of artists such as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis, Ray Charles, Beatles, Doris Day, Bing Crosby, Dionne Warwick, and the Kingston Trio. Mr. Green

I woke up hoping today was Friday. >Grump<

This has been the worst week of the summer, with the humidity and heat. I plan to easy on myself.

I was told that hydrogen peroxide melts the wax out of ears. I tried that and the bubbling in my ear lasted a very long time and in the end I didn't detect an improvement. (I was told by a doctor, who, coincidentally, is a part owner of the apartments).

@edgarblythe,
I have found hydrogen peroxide to be the perfect ear wax remover. I've been using it for years.

@Roberta,
I successfully used ear candles on one ear, but I was going for something more conventional with the other, to keep persons I know from whining about it. It may be I should have used the peroxide repeatedly for a few days or so.
