Most Democrats appear to favor Hillary for the next president. She was my choice before Obama got the nod last time. This time, I have got to hear a candidate vow to reinforce Social Security and Medicare, not just promise it will not go away. They will have to vow to quit giving away the store to rich corporations while more and more gets taken from the working people. They will have to ease away from perpetual war as a solution for every foreign policy situation. Above all they will have to show positive evidence that they will not abandon every position that rubs Republicans the wrong way. I like Biden, but I don't know where he stands on these issues for certain. I do promise to vote third party from now on if my modest proposals are not a part of a Democratic campaign.

The local vultures love to eat cats. Driving to Tomball today I had to dodge a bunch of them around a freshly run over feline of the kitty cat persuasion. I like cats and do not condone running them over, but once the deed is done, the vultures have a duty to perform. Less than an hour later, that spot of road was clean and the vultures had moved on.

@edgarblythe,
Most people can't equate the fact that most animals are carnivores.
Once upon a time, humans were cannibals.

I see on facebook msolga is ailing today. Something that involves sinuses, weakness, inner ear. I wish her well.

The elderly man I was sharing colloidal silver with had a stroke about a year ago. A few months ago, he went in the hospital. He has been in rehab so many weeks I am beginning to doubt he can return. He dealt with the stroke, as it was taking place, the same way my brother in law did. Which is to say, tried to blow it off instead of letting someone call an ambulance. In both cases it was not that apparent a stroke was under way. Which goes to show that a person should get to the doctor even if it does not seem that urgent.

I think many appear subdued in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. But I don't believe they are. We don't know yet where to focus our anger. I have no doubt that the perpetrators will be caught. It seems to me they mostly want to get caught, so they can advertise their 'cause.' Maybe not caught physically, but they want to be known. I am curious to see how the president will deal with all this.

I'm sure that it's beginning to sink in, Ed, as to why these things happen.

For the sake of innocents the world over let's hope y'all apply a wee bit more critical thinking this time.

Framed up the back porch yesterday. I used the platform that had been left by the previous resident. 8'x8' is to me not the best size or shape, but its what I am going with. The previous porch was just a shelter for the back. It was thrown together and had no practical uses. The new one will have total privacy, but will have screen and vented siding so that on hot days we can keep the door open and let hopefully a breeze pass into the house.

It will become dark and stormy as the day gets on. I am hoping it does not be that bad before I get finished working and come home. The truck is getting brakes today. The front rotors will need replaced. My mechanic worked on the fuel system yesterday, because the check engine light would not stay off. Got to have an inspection by month end.

A great feeling of accomplishment has set in, because the exterior house work is nearing completion. I have needed to do much of it for about ten years, but did not have resources and generally did not have the energy. But energy builds in the course of such a project, so that I live the experience even when I should be resting or otherwise engaged. For some reason the harder I push myself the better I feel.

@edgarblythe,
I think the idea of "pushing oneself" as we get older is a good thing. Too many people become inactive, and their health goes with it.

That's one of the reasons I love travel; I always push myself to walk more. When I'm home, I try to work in the yard or walk in shopping malls.

Keep on truck'n.

I hope that they have built a tunnel for you from your house to the mall, CI.

@JTT,
No need; our climate is about the best one can have. It's always moderate compared to other parts of the country.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes all that walking is one of the best tonics available. When I finish working on the house and inevitably become too old to hold a job, I plan to walk as much as possible.

@cicerone imposter,
I'm glad that you enjoy it, CI, but why then do you walk in malls?

The excitement of achieving and the desire to see the completion Smile

But, then you will have to find something else when you finish.. Good for you.

Must drop by facebook and see if MsOlga feels better now... She appears to still be just clicking one or two...

@JTT,
Malls usually have carpets that softens the surface, and large enough to get a good workout.

@FOUND SOUL,
When I finish the outside of the house I have to do essentially the same thing inside.

Olga has seen a doctor and appears to be handling her illness fairly well.

It is hard for me to think beyond the explosions and gunfire filling the news these days. Rolf Harris arrested in a sex scandal. I mentioned that on this thread weeks ago. The press played it down until now.

We have to take the car to the dealer today to get the air bag checked in a manufacturer's recall. Yesterday I had a brake job done on the truck. It needed it very badly as it turned out.

The weather is abnormally cool today.

True, and not so long ago. Every now and then the media gets hold of a human indulging in cannibalism....Jeffrey Dahmer springs to mind, although it was thought he had a mental disorder. North Korea has a history of cannibalism during extreme famine. There was an article regarding this the other day. It's not politically correct to admit to our species devouring each other but such does exist, still.

In California I knew a man - it was 1966 or 67 - He had a shrunken head. He said that he and a friend were on or near a river in the Jivaro territory and that the Indians killed his friend and presented him with the shrunken head. He said he was given privileged treatment because he had blue eyes and blond hair, whereas the friend had brown eyes and black hair. We are not so removed from our ancestors as all that.
