Good Friday. Good and lazy for me. I plan to watch Lincoln later on.

Getting set to water some Dawn dish liquid in the yard, hoping to kill off the &#&^%#%^& fleas.

Now I am going to Lola's place for some coffee.

@edgarblythe,
I hope you enjoy Lincoln as much as I did. Some people simply do not enjoy it...consider it too dry. I consider it a masterpiece.

@Frank Apisa,
A masterpiece of propaganda, Frank?

I watched Lincoln yesterday. It is the best screen depiction of the man I have seen. I would have filmed the final scenes a bit differently, but all in all I love it.

Rolph Harris has been arrested in a sex scandal. As a young man I loved his record album that featured Tie Me Kangaroo Down and Sun Arise. This many years later, I was not so interested in him. I hope the court gets it right and if he is guilty he gets punished accordingly.

Easter means nothing to me now that the kids are grown and gone away. When I was little my Mother made it a nice holiday for us.

I watched the Ten Commandments last night, from the point where Moses' staff made the Egyptians' water turn to blood. I got a kick out of watching Pharaoh's army close in, then Moses and his people stop and bicker a while and finally, walking, they outrun the chariots across the lake bed, making it with their waddling geese even.

@edgarblythe,
I've a funny left-handed compliment to that movie: I'd pay full-price to see it again.

Seriously, Daniel Day Lewis performed one of the best-acting jobs I've seen in decades. Unlike when watching other top actors perform their roles I didn't say, "Wow! What an excellent acting job!" I commented on what an amazing man I was seeing before me. IMHO, he channeled Lincoln. Sally Fields and Tommy Lee Jones excelled, as well.

@Ragman,
The cast was perfect. Most of the time you could forget that Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Fields had a part in it. Lincoln as you say, was flawless. His makeup kept up with the script (aged ten years in one) -
I have noticed that films about Lincoln generally wrap up the ending very quickly. I thought that was a mistake here.

@edgarblythe,
I understand that criticism. I felt it was abrupt, also. Not sure how and where Spielberg should have gone considering the movie editorial direction was about Lincoln-the-man as opposed to being editorially about history of American Civil War, the history of Abolitionist movement, or the messed up inconclusive assassination history.

No matter what, the ending felt abrupt. We felt his humanity and became emotionally invested.

I monkeyed with the alarm clock yesterday. The consequence was I got it wrong and arose one hour too early. Returned to bed but it did no good. I hate getting up early on Mondays.

Happy April Fools Day.

I stared at a blank page all day yesterday. Some say the answer is to write anyway. They are likely correct.

Waited all evening for the Mentalist. It was not only delayed 40 minutes but was a repeat. Watched some Barney Miller episodes. Great show, in my estimation.

@edgarblythe,
Hi all, I'm now in Lisbon. We're leaving for Porto today to embark on a new riverboat, the Amavida. The owners will also be on board to share the week with us.

Ear worm of the day: Air, from Hair.

Now I'm ready to paint my house, rain is setting in for a couple of days.

I bought hemp powder to incorporate into my diet.

It rained throughout the night. My wife phoned, minutes ago, about a tree on the road. She figures it will be moved before I leave. There's no power at the lights. Anyway the hail fell elsewhere, a good thing.

Bamboo backscratcher this morning.

Punky the dog standing around watching me this morning. I have no idea what's up with that. She has been getting in my easy chair during morning computer time. I called her over and gave her some pets. Now she is lying near my feet. I guess all will become clear with time.

The weather has been iffy enough that I am still putting off painting the house. I am pinpointing Friday and Saturday now. But I can bring home the paint spray machine and probably paper the windows today.

@edgarblythe,
Because of the heavy rains, we're still in port in Porto. Besides that, I came down with montezuma's revenge and. stomach ache, so I missed the outing for today. The good news is, I prbably lost about ten pounds. Feeling much better now after some pep to bismo and hot tea with honey. It's now 10:25am, sitting in the lounge of the ship checking out my email and the stock market.
We have sunshine today, so we may still get a couple days of cruising on the Douro River.

A dose of colloidal silver each night would keep Montezuma's revenge away, CI. Smile My mother in law kept getting infections in the nursing home and hospital. They brought her back from the hospital still on antibiotics one time and they quarantined her room because fearing she would infect the weaker residents. We smuggled in half a pint of colloidal silver and fed it to her. She was unquarantined the next morning and has not been sent back to the hospital with infections since that time.

My daughter should be moving back to this area in a couple of months. Looking forward to seeing her and her husband and four kids.

We took boxes to the shredder today. Sixteen of them. Some as old as the 1990s. That should clear a little space in the storage shed.

setanta's dog dying is a sad event. The dogs I have had over a lifetime are still with me, even though most are gone. My first pet was a half cocker spaniel, half whatever. Boots he was named. Others were Snuffy, Pearly Mae, Baby and Holly. For personality and intelligence, Holly was my favorite. Pearly Mae was a sassy little black terrier with the bottom teeth protruding. We instantly bonded. My sister noticed and gave her to me on the spot. I love Punky the dog, but I dearly miss those mutts.

The president has taken a Republican turn for the worse these past few days. Cut Social Security and Medicare, he says. Give corporations new immunity that makes them sovereign. He is a Republican wearing progressive cloth.

I made substantial progress paining yesterday. If I am not tired I plan to push it along more today. First, after work, I will have to give Punky her bath.

My daughter in Denver will not move here this year. They decided to wait another year.

The new Jackie Robinson movie looks pretty well made. I don't go to baseball films but I may make an exception. Most bio movies focus on the negatives in life and barely touch on the parts that made us love those individuals. If it's about a singer they generally let somebody else do their singing for them. I absolutely hate the one about Frankie Lymon.
