Sorry about the double post. I swear I clicked only once. But you could be right. Hey, I'm still here.

connection to eastern ontario seems to suffer from frostbite , but at a windchill of MINUS 21 C at noonhour that's not surprising .

A2K has it's good moments sometimes. Why, just the other day it almost felt like it used to. I was able to jump around from one stupid thread about nothing to another, mess with Bi-Polar Bear and Gus, flirt with the girls, and make posts without any delay at all.

It only lasted about fifteen minutes, but it brought back memories of when this f*cking piece of **** website was actually fun.

Being on this site is like an addiction to heroin. It was so good at the beginning, but now it's turned on me, and I feel like I'm just going through the motions everyday with ever diminishing rewards.

Well I would not know about being addicted to heroine since I never used it.
Your posts still crack me up though and I am under you again. Razz

Well technically I was on top first then ended up on bottom again. So, I cannot complain. Laughing Laughing

You know, if you hit the "quote" button at the top right of on one of my posts, you can actually have me inside you.

I envision two possibilities:

1. The performance degredation is due to normal usage. Solution: increase webserver performance.

2. The performance degredation is due to a denial of service attack. Solution: install a hardware firewall capable of sorting out valid requests from attacks to protect the web server and reserve its resources for valid traffic.

I feel empathy with those of you who are experiencing Abuzz flashbacks. It does feel very much like that, doesn't it? I think the most frustrating & disappointing thing is the absence of updates on the situation. Has the RAM been added or not? Is so, what could be causing the ongoing problems? We can speculate as much as we like, but we don't really know what's going on & when/if there's an end in sight.

I agree with that, margo. I know Craven just quit his job and is becoming a pro poker player (!) and he mentioned something about traveling and keeping us updated is probably not the most pressing thing for him at the moment. But would certainly like more information.

My completely uneducated guess is that nothing has happened yet (RAM-wise). But that when the site gets totally wonky, people stop using it, and less traffic means that it functions better, but then since it's functioning better more people start using it again, which pushes it back off the deep end... etc.

pssst, soz:
That was me, Olga ... not the other cat woman from Oz.
Not to worry. A common confusion of identity.

Your assessment of recent A2K performance could well be correct. Sounds quite feasible to me.
