It is frustrating and sometimes I just give up and go do something else.

But I agree that good sites are hard to come by...which is why I keep coming back for more. Even if it takes me 15 minutes to post something.

if the "Critical Error" screen comes up, do a refresh.

sometimes it gets cached in memory even though the site is back...

Oh, I know all the tricks, I'm just currently grumpy about it.

That doesn't mean I'm, like, leaving the site, I'm just grumpy.

yes , i have noticed that sometimes even though the "movement bar" (?) shows that the posting has not been completed , that when i switch to "your posts" my entry has been posted nicely already .
a little patience and experimentation will do wonders .
example : sometimes , rather than clicking directly on "your posts" or "new posts" , i go to "open in new window" and the posts will appear quickly - doesn't always work , but ...

I open new windows and read various news sites, blogs, etc., while waiting.
Or, failing that, do some housework, yikes, talk about desperation.

I think that sites as good as this are about as rare as hen's teeth.

I thought I'd look in on a few a couple of weeks ago, and found that A2K is streets ahead in most aspects.

It may be slow at times, but it's the best place I've found, with a great bunch of people.

Note - I have not received payment for this testimonial.

The cheque is still in the post, so I'm told.

LordE, I told ya, overseas checks take longer....

And, I'm sorry about how freakin' slow it's been. It's frustrating from here, too.

Yes, that describes how I feel, too.

But I give up in frustration a lot more than I used to. Sometimes one can't spend hours at it, when the time's just not available. Sadly, I think I'm missing out on some good threads as a result. Insufficient time to investigate everything that looks interesting.

I'm wondering: have the number of daily posts been reduced recently? Or am I just imagining it?

Yup, I agree as well.

When it's slow, I just play more chess. Smile

I've tried quite a few new games at shockwave lately, and worked through a couple of good recipes as well.

I have a bunch of cheesy serial killer books that I haven't had the time (or the patience) to read. Maybe now is the time!

It seems that I picked the right time to be absent. I seem to have missed the slowdowns.
