Well, the last time I wore boots the woman was just screaming all night long. Maybe the pole climbing spikes were a bit much???

Chicks notice shoes.

When they say they're looking for a guy who's intelligent, has a sense of humor, and ha;sldhfow whatever they say...they are lying.

They dig SHOES.

Craven, we'll never figure out exactly how they work.

But anyway, I just got some new sandals yesterday...and you know what, heeven? I'm DEED SEXY!!

Boots are attractive, but only at the beginning. See what my dear friend Frank Zappa says about his boot experience:

"You know
My python boot is too tight
I couldn't get it off last night
A week went by
And now it's July
I finally got it off
And my girlfriend cried, YOU GOT STINK-FOOT!
Stink-foot, darlin'."

quin,

You ask a very fair question about the boots affect in men. I can explain what it does for me but it's still nowehere on the level of what it does for women it seems.

I think you're just having trouble with the whole women and visuals...really
The difference mainly though is , IMO, the visual on boots for women goes further than the fantasy image men associate with boots on women.
Added to that fantasy image (yes, we do occassionaly have visual fantasies) is that other thing we love...a testosterone filled image of a man, a manly boot wearin, strong, hunk of a man.
Although we appreciate men dressed well, great little suited masterpieces if they are able to put it all together....
nothing has more animal attraction than a manly man.

Goes from the whole hunting gathering guy right through to the Diet Coke contruction working no shirt wearing guy of today.

like ehBeth says

thud

isnt that simple enough?

Slap..be sure to wear dress socks with those or they'll get you no where

Socks with sandals???

Do you realize that the whole damn world laughs at Americans for that gaffe?

I swear! Every place I have been I have throngs of people asking me why Americans wear white socks and dress shoes or sandals with sock.

I do both sometimes but I get their point.

now we know why Americans are always a disgrace though...thanks...gonna go hunt down all ill sock wearing people and express the plight.

Hey, socks keep the feet cooler than if they are in contact with rubber sandals in a tropical country.

I actually started doing it when I figured out that I was expected to as an american.

I still don't wear white socks pulled up all the way with shorts and a tucked in polo shirt through. :-)

Ok I have one last question about the boots.

Before I asked this question I knew that they were supposed to be manly. But why?

It's obvious why someone would think facial hair is manly.

I know why I like high heels on women and it's not so general as "it's sexy".

Sienfeld's greatest line is that baldness should be considered manly.

By now I don't expect an answer but do any women out there have an explanation for the boots = manly thing?

Is it the role of boots throughout history (this would explain uniforms a bit too)?

Come on gals! I get that y'all dig manly.

But why are boots manly? Shouldn't baldness be a turn on then?

If you're wearing boots, you're ready for anything. Going back to testosterone-filled fantasies, a man with boots on is ready to suddenly carry you out of an avalanche -- and he won't have to stop to dump the rocks out of his loafers. A man wearing boots can walk through sand, water, uh...what else... a lot of other stuff to fetch whatever needs fetching! That's why men with boots are manly -- they can just keep on going. And also, a man with boots on isn't as worried about scuffing his shoes while walking through whatever he has to walk through to get the job done as a man with wingtips is -- and a guy with sandals has to worry about stubbing his toe. Boots are just manly!

Is that convincing? Smile

I like motorcycle boots or docs. If I saw an actual guy wearing actual tall polished leather boots I would be underwhelmed.

Oh but I've talked about Ty from Trading Spaces and Andrew from While You Were Out, and they wear Timberland-type boots.

The boots don't particularly register, but the guys do, so who knows?
