wich might only be interesting to me..

They are the only headstones in a rather large plot in the (ahem) Upper Class section?

Sorry, are you referring to the 5 small stones that I'm showing in the photo above?

Seems a bit weird. Or are they grave boundary markers?

Oh.. sorry.

No I didnt.

Those are just grave markers.

I forget what is written on them.. nothing too special about them except with the right sun, and from that side, they look kinda cool. Smile

They look so small. Are they for children?

Maybe if you ever head back that way, could you take a shot of them in row from the other direction?

That is what I thought was interesting about them.

They are normal size stones, just placed close enough together that if you look at them in a row, they appear to be little.

With the sun light between them casting a shadow, you can see that they truly are a ways apart.. VS how they look in the picture

Forget the other pictures of really neat looking molds and fungi.

This one takes the cake.

The mold on this one is actually blood red.
Trying as hard as I could and much to the dismay of the roof of my car, I could NOT get a picture that showed just how deep red this color is.

The placement looks like this statue is bleeding from the heart, shoulder and forehead.

The person in this grave?
Died from gunshot wounds..

You can see there is a reddish cast to the moss. Is it facing any direction other than north? Maybe if the sun hit at a different angle the red might show up better. (Of course, you could probably doctor it with some software magic...)

It is an amazing pic, though. I'd like to know what her name is.

It is facing west-ish. I would say more north west then direct west.
I have not been to the yard in the evening.

To get a picture of that, it is well worth it and I just might do that tomorrow.

She is about 20 feet ...ehh... 30 feet tall.

I am 5'8 and I stood on top of my little toyota and was at the angle you see here.
So, yeah.. 30 is probally a better guess.

Actually she is already in this thread once.

And the pictures I took before give a better idea of how bright red this stuff is.

Mrs Mary Murphy is actually a catalog patent.

The man from the save our cemeteries told me a bit about her headstone.

http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/5543/20oj9.jpg

Right at the foot of the headstone, buried under dirt and leaves is a patent number.

Her grave covering was ordered through a CATALOG, and shipped to her before she died possibly.
The only thing they make with each order is the name plate.

It is a common 'mold' and thought to have been a bit expensive.

Apparently there are only about 4 in the state of Texas, one in Lubbock... or was it Fort Worth...?
I forgot already.

After reading the 'patent information' on the foot of the grave as if it were braille, I can not find any information on "J.B. abrams patent 1847 and 1974 "

I have been looking all over Mary Murphys grave covering , and have found no other visible patent numbers, or names..

Any ideas where it might be?

Maybe it is on the underside?

Thanks for the photo and the link. So Rebecca Fisher Blandford died from gunshot wounds in 1938... whew. Shocked Imagine the story behind that.... was she the gun moll of a gangster, the wife of somebody famous, killed by a lover or just an innocent bystander?

No. Not rebecca...

the person under that tall statue with the 'blood red' moss. Thats the one who was shot to death.

He was shot ( according to the historical society) shot down on the side of the road by someone stealing his cotton.

They ransacked his wagon, shot him, and I think they said he had a passenger too who died, and they brought the cotton, alcohol and something else to Austin, sold it, and ran with the money.

He wasn't found until the next day, when his wife called police to place a missing person report. The officer told her they had found 2 men on a road and asked her to come identify him.

Oh. Thanks. Boy, was I confused. (So easy to do.) The red moss was on the statue of a woman so I mixed 'em up. Still, what a sad story for that wife.
