Unfortunately, I need them inside. Ice jams have backed up underneath my one-year old roof and there's water pouring down the inside of my bedroom wall. I am not a happy camper.

Yikes! Sending virtual buckets and arm loads of old towels your way. (Been there, done that, (except the water was inside my kitchen cupboards) so I truly sympathize!

Thank you -- old towels gratefully accepted. I called the guy who cleans our gutters to see if he could come over to bang the ice out because the roofers weren't answering their phones (too busy listening to everyone else with the same problem). The gutter guy can come tomorrow. In the meantime the paint is bubbling and beginning to peel.

Yikes, indeed, Jaye. I wish I could make a suggestion as to what to do (and of course these kind of things always happen at night and on a weekend). Keep us apprised.

Thanks, all. We were able to reach the corner of the roof line by leaning out the bedroom window with a long-handled ice chipper and knock down a large chunk of the blockage. It seems to have stopped the inside flow for now at least. 45 and rainy today turning much colder overnight -- yet another freeze-thaw-freeze cycle. The wall looks like hell but it could have been worse.

He's in Kansas, rjb. RH, it's been foggy and misty all day. The skies are getting much darker and it looks like the heavier stuff is about to begin. Hatches secure, flashlights handy.

Was yours a rain event or did you get more ice?

I do hope, JPB, that it won't happen again - and that you don't get such 'weather circles' more often!

Since a couple of days - and it is said to last until Tuesday/Wednesday - we've got a rather funny weather situation here: clear in the night and during day, misty in the (early) morning, with temperatures as low as 14°F in the morning (in the 20's at noon) - nearly 50°F warmer on our state's highest mountain (2759 feet) just 30 miles away.

Temperature inversion.

Just got back in....

30 mph winds and 3-6 inches by dark they say, but I have over a foot in my lot, and on the side roads...

Heavy blowing white stuff....

Sunday should be a GREAT day for football in Chicago, perhaps Detroit, Buffalo and Boston.

Got a little melting today.

We drove out to Forest Hills Cemetery to visit my father-in-law's. Sure was
pretty. Nigel and I had to break a path through the snow so the Lovely
Bride could get to her Dad's grave. She place a poinsettia in front of the
stone.

On the Jamaicaway was the most tackily decorated house I have ever seen.
The guy had one of every conceivable blow-up Holiday figure all around the
front of his house. What an eyesore!

How nice a place for your father-in-law to be buried, George! That house, or rather its owner, was on NPR (I think) today or yesterday. It was that house if the owner's name is Domenic......
