Outside, it doesn't look like RP did any shoveling the other day. So we think we got 8 or 9 inches here, all told. Temp is now 34. Weather channel says a half inch of rain expected. Low 23 tonight.
23? What with the rain, I am going to take advantage of Noddy's advise and split a large garbage bag and put over the windshield. Merry Andrew dug out the car. But only the powers that be know what really know what is in store for us. My flight is supposed to leave at 6:20.
Hoping Slappy made it there and back without passing out in a snow bank.
From inside, it looks like the precipitation (whatever the hell kind THAT was) has stopped. Still windy.

Does that mean you have to be at the airport around 4:30 - 5 a.m.? Oof!
Will you take an airport van, cab, or drive yourselves?
I made it.
Chinese food cures all.
Oh Boston people Keith Larkhart is on live doing Christmas music from Symphony Hall.
The Merry One just went and parked the car in a parking garage for overnight. Will be checking flight info. Am doing last minute laundry and packing boxes for shipping. I wish I could be packed in a box and shipped, that would make it so easy.
I've got a four hour layover in Oakland tomorrow. Maybe I can do some Christmas shopping at the airport.
Tomorrow is going to be a layer and strip act.
just did some shoveling....... It's raining now, the snow is heavy and wet.

very heavy, and very wet.

Around my car is too. Last year we had a similar storm and my wheels were frozen into a block of ice. Here's hoping tomorrow morning is not like that!
sitting at penn station, 2 more hours to go and then hopefully i'll be able to board a train...though they are running late all day. still better than buses that are not running at all. trying to leave new york snce 4pm. sigh.
We got about a foot up here in Malfunction Junction.
I spent most of the day shoveling, but we were able to get out in the
evening. Took the T in to Boston to see the Holiday Pops show. It was
outstanding. Best of all, my back isn't sore today. (Took a dose of
eggnog and rum for medicinal purposes before bed.)
...aaaand i'm back from new york. got home at 9:30 am. ugh.
Welcome home.
Have nice trip?
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Is anyone else really REALLY pissed off about how the streets around here have (or really haven't) been plowed? Yes I know it's hard to move this much snow, but it's been done better in more difficult situations. This complaint is aimed at the city of Cambridge for their street plowing, the residents of Cambridge for their crap sidewalk clearing (people are walking in the already impossibly narrow streets), and the for-hire plowers who clear the driveways of those who can afford them. I have never seen such a friggin mess. Even Medford did better.
This storm clean-up was terrible just about everywhere.
How do we manage to forget how deal with winter every year?

You got something against Meffa', woman? Aye? Meffa' is wicked pissah.
Streets right around my house aren't too bad, but I went down a couple side streets that I don't think were touched.
All the snow berms people drove over to get out of their parking spots have now turned to packed ice. I had to get a push into a spot and then I rammed my way back out. Thankfully, after 8-10 people honked and flipped me off for being stuck and making it hard for them to drive by, it was only that one last wonderful citizen who gave me a hand. At least there was one of him. After bringing Dasha to the airport, I had to drive and drive to find a spot that wasn't closed in by a now ice-berm and wasn't on a steep slope.
The roads aren't plowed well, so they are very narrow. The cars aren't parked well so they are narrower. Pedestrians who don't want to get their shoes snowy are walking down the street during rush hour. Many of them with their iPod's plugged in, oblivious to cars bearing down icy roads towards them. Delivery trucks who normally are a pain the ass are now completely blocking whole blocks as they drop off christmas packages. This morning I had to wait 10 minutes for a contract worker to come out and move his van so traffic could pass. Not pretty. This makes living in the burbs seem much more inviting.
You aren't toting a gun I hope, Littlek. We don't want to hear about you on the news tomorrow,
Hang in there.
I wouldn't trust me to be carrying a gun.
