@Paaskynen,
- Stick it (2006), harmless gymnastics film, our teen daughter liked it.
- The Fountain (2006), at first sight a romantic adventure, but turns into esoteric tale about life and death.
- Pathfinder (2007), why didn't South Park make an episode about the rape of the original, subtle and historically correct film Ofelas, turning it into this ridiculous, unappealing monstrosity.

@Paaskynen,
- Apocalypto (2006), plot with a lot of loose ends and imagery reveling in bloodshed
- Brutti, Sporchi e Cattivi (1976), tragicomedy, still going strong
- Odoru daisosasen (1998, Bayside Shakedown), funny actionkrimi

@Paaskynen,
- Maid in Manhattan (2002), revisited by ladies' request
- Crossroads (2002), ditto
- Save the Last Dance 2 (2006), predictable chick flick
- 13 Moons (2002), interesting, but tries too hard to be odd

@Paaskynen,
Last weekend I saw thre titles that are out of the ordinary:
- St. Andrew's Girls (2002), cannot decide what it wants to be
- Revolver (2005), interesting but wrongly flagged as a crime comedy here
- Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), based on an extraordinary novel, the film follows the book closely.

Finally saw "The Hulk" remake. I didn't like it as much as the original with Eric Bana and Nick Nolte. Watched "Ironman" again last night. Sill alot of fun but I noticed for the first time that Robert Downey wore lifts throughout. Smile

@Paaskynen,
- Lien, Le (2007), the type of little film dealing with war trauma at which Europeans excel.
- Serpent, Le (2006, The Snake), entertaining if predictable French psycho thriller
- Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006), very funny, over the top, Canadian action comedy
- Crank (2006), non-stop action with a good dose of raw humour à la Die Hard, except harder.

Hancock-a super-hero story with a difference.He starts out as a bum but eventually gets his life back in shape.Another enjoyable outing from Will Smith.

"Bringing Up Baby." (Katherine Hepburn, Clark Gable.) I expected to love it but it was really weird. It wasn't so much giggle-inducing as wince-inducing.

@sozobe,
Greetings Soz.
I never got the big whoo about Bringing Up Baby. I much preferred that duo in Philadelphia Story or Holiday (very old film).

Tonight, I saw 'Sommer vorm Balkon' - a German movie, obviously. It was ok but I wouldn't watch it again. The second-to-last movie was 'You kill me' with Ben Kingsley. Weird and funny!

Watched "White Christmas" last night. Both Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, in different parts of the movie, wore yellow socks. Interesting.

@Paaskynen,
Ehm let's see... these past weeks:
- How she move (2007), blistering Canadian dance film, transparent story.
- Sword of Honour (2001), quite interesting TV drama based on Evelyn Waugh's war trilogy.
- Tali-Ihantala 1944 (2007), Finnish war movie in docudrama style attempts to give an impression of the battle that saved Finland's independence from the Soviet Union.

I watched First Sunday last night with Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan. Formulaic, predictable, silly.

@sozobe,
I'll take my Cary Grant polished and charming, thank you. Laughing
Never liked him goofy. Ever.

@eoe,
He was kind of sweet, and definitely very handsome. Katherine Hepburn really bothered me though. She was all dithery and victimy and manipulative and bleh. (I said to sozlet at one point, "You know this is SO not the way to get a man, right?" She knew.)

Also watched Polar Express again, what a great little movie that is!

Just got out of bed and I've got a big smile on my face.I'll tell you why.Before I hit the sack this morning,I put WALL.E,the latest animated film to come from Disney/Pixar,into the player and from the get-go,I was smiling,no,laughing,no,roaring with laughter! The Earth is a deserted junk yard and WALL.E is left behind to clean up.He also finds some very interesting and useful artifacts to add to his collection.And to keep him company he has a pet Cockroach.Along comes an inspection droid EVE,and WALL.E's world is turned upside down and his adventure begins.
The story appeals to all ages but,in this case,adults will get more out of this than the kids.The quality of the animation is superb,as is the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack.Put it on your Christmas wish list,you won't be disappointed.
