'Life'- a science fiction picture with Jake Gyllenhaal. Man, this one is CREEP-PEE. The 'life' form they find is unlike any I've seen in movies before. I would recommend not watching this one alone.

@glitterbag,
Yeah, loved it. Gyllenhaal has really gotten to be a good actor.

@snood,
It seemed so real, so morbid, so exploitive and dehumanizing.....it made my skin crawl....but I loved the movie.

Wednesday night:
Baby Driver (2017)
Slick, funny, and rollicking! Super great action sequences and editing. Incredible soundtrack. And the chemistry between Baby and Debora? Wonderful.

Roaming around the channels last night, I happened across Fire With Fire. A rather interesting 2012/13 drama with Josh Duhamel, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D'Onofrio, 50 Cent and others. A side of D'Onofrio I hadn't seen before.

@Sturgis,
What's it about? Is it a shoot-em-up, crime and police thing?

Guy sees a crime (a murder) while in a store. He gets put into witness protection because the guy he is to testify against is a bad guy, a white supremacist. He breaks out of witness protection, guns get fired, some cop involvement, some physical altercations, more shooting, in the end... well, I don't want to be a spoiler.

On a 1-10 I'd allow it it a 7.4. Some of it was a bit obvious, some a bit ridiculous. Good enough to hold me for the full run and most movies can't do that these days.

@Sturgis,
Ooh sounds like one I'd like. What network was showing it, do you 'member?

@snood,
It showed up on something called Bounce. A recent add to the cable lineup (or maybe it was there and I missed it, since it's in the upper 1200s).

Quite a few good movies show there.

@Sturgis,
I have the channel! It's 1281 here. But, I checked ahead a couple days and it doesn't appear they're gonna replay "Fire with Fire" soon. Shoot.

@snood,
If I spot it I'll let you know.

In the old days we would have waited for it to come out on VHS.

@snood,
I'm slower. Still no discs, they won't last, I'm holding out for Blockbuster Video to rise up and bring back the tapes!

(it'll be a long wait)

With M. Night Shyamalan, I feel like he COULD be a good director but he always does something to destroy his plot in every film.

The thing that made his film The 6th Sense different is that it was less anti-fomulaic than the rest of his body of work. But I think the better version of that film was "The Others" starring Nicole Kidman.

@jcboy,
Shyamalan's 'Split' is supposed to be good. Anyone seen that one yet?

@snood,
It starts off as a very good psychological drama, but then twists into a Shayamalan movie.

How did you like Unbreakable?

@InfraBlue,
Tried to watch it twice, could never get very far before losing interest. Not a very big Sam Jackson fan, either.
