In no particular order...
The Dalai Llama,Mother Teresa,Pope John Paul II, Mohammed, and Jesus.I think that would be one interesting dinner conversation.
I would also invite Aristotle,Socrates, and Plato for the philosophy discussion.
And for the lighter side,my 2 personal Favorites,Groucho Marx and Bob Hope.

Ooops. Did I say Osso? I meant Merry Andrew. Forgive me, Andy.

Mysteryman, Glad to see you included a lighter side.

mysteryman -- yer right, of course. I caught the error on my third re-reading of the post and then I was too lazy to go edit and correct it.

Osso -- Rock Hudson? As an Apache? That's funny. Jeff Chandler practically made a career out of playing Cochise in two or three movies, most notably Broken Arrow (1950), with Jimmy Stewart as Tom Jeffords.

I like these kinds of things, my list would be:

Lucille Ball--because I Love Lucy, she's a legend.
Judy Garland--because my grandma loved her, and so, so did I
Grandma--I wouldn't have a party without her, and I miss her.
Gramps--same reason, and for the jokes.
Nana--I miss her cooking, and her.
Aunt Karen--beause I would have liked to have known her.
My Dad--because it wouldn't be the same without him.
Geri Jewel--lots in common, I think--she would be a cool person to know.
H--one of my best friends, and all my others, too.
The one for me-- To introduce him to everyone, or have everyone introduce him to me, and have them all say this is THE ONE, keep him, will you?

The whole thing would be perfect, for me...

L Smile

plus all my penpals I have yet to meet, that would work, too.

I'm still hoping all the people on this thread can have a dinner party--the conversation should be fascinating, with all the diversity and thoughtfulness that has been shown through the choices that have been made.

Now that we know that J Edgar Hoover played a major part in the conspiracy cover up in the death of JFK, and that he was in the pocket of the mob for the entire of his life, I would give everything I have to interrogate the criminal little weasel.

I would love to meet John Lennon

ditto Abraham Lincoln

ditto Mark Twain

It's bending the rules of the question, but I would throw a separate dinner party for the founding fathers of America,

Jesus, to see if the bible has any basis in fact

Karl Marx, to hear the unbiased version

My father who I was robbed of 25 years before my time

If you are to include J Edgar Hoover, make it a costume party. He likes cross-dressing. You'll be able to get more info from him that way.

DrFlawless, Hi and welcome to a2k. Your party sounds very personal, with a couple of strangers thrown in to keep things interesting.

Kev, J. Edgar Hoover?! Okay, you want to sweat the little weasel, fine by me. I hope he isn't too much of a party poop. I'm gonna bend the rules a bit. Hey, I made 'em up, so I can bend 'em. Two parties for you. One with you and your father; one with you and everyone else.

Ricardo, If J.Edgar is gonna wear a dress, I picture something cocktail length. An off-the-shoulder number, but we can forget about a plunging neckline.

Don't let me at that party. I would be a troublesome guest if he were there...
