Nobody steps away from my table without a proper meal custom-tailored to their needs. Northern-style Vegetarian Indian it is for Gautam, as long as he promises not to insult me, being a fine cook himself, from what I hear....

Me ? Insult ? Anyone ? NEVER !!!!

Nah, not a fine cook, but yeah can rustle up some stuff - though my experiment to make falafels floped majorly two days ago - I wanted to grill them instead of frying and the batter just wouldnt hold !!

I should stick to Indian cooking only.....

Gautam, yep, falafels need the deep-fry. I do make mean cocktail pakoras...precious little hors d'ouevres they are...I have never been a fan of chickpea flour, so I use a mix of white and whole wheat, and sieve it, for the batter.

A couple of guys who are already pompous asses just got promoted ahead of me, which is going to make them even more unbearable. But I've survived this kind of thing before, and will again.

I put a couple of brown bread slices and an egg to bind the chick pea flour, but it just did not work !!

I just figured out that I havent put forward my guest list !!!!

1. Amitabh Bachchan - He is the most outstanding movie star the world has ever produced. I have been a fan since childhood, and have watched each of his movies atleast 4 times. One of his most famous movies "Sholay" has been watched over a 100 times by me, and a couple of years ago, give me any point in the movie and I could recite dialogues verbatim from that point onwards to the end !!

2. George Micheal - Not only he is one of the most good looking men in the world (or used to be) I used to swoon every time I heard his voice, right from the WHAM days.

3. Indira Gandhi - The first Indian women to be the prime minister, I admired her for the balls of steel she had. Ruthless, strong and ambitious.

4. Laurel and Hardy - I grew up on their comics. Western comics were fairly restricted in India when I was growing up. But Their comics were widely available everywhere. Their antics still make me laugh. I have their entire movie collection, and whenever I am feeling down, these movies are sure to cheer me up. And I am counting them as one person

5. Jagjit Singh - One of the most fabulous gazhal (urdu poetry) of our times. I have each and every one of his albums and always sing aloud with them (only when I am alone)

6. My paternal grandmother - She passed away when I was only 1. I dont have any memories of her. One part of childhood which I missed, and I want to see what she was like.

7. Darren - My first true love (and to some extent, the only one). Though our affair lasted only one year, we are still in touch even after almost 4 years of seperation, and frequently break into tears while talking to each other. He loved my cooking, and was one of its very few fans Smile)

8. Sunil Gavaskar - My sporting hero. The best batsman in the world !! (and I am talking cricket here !!)

9. Dhiru Bhai Ambani - India's largest industrialist, now deceased. He came to Bombay with only Rs 75 in his pocket (abt $2) and single handedly built Reliance India Ltd, India's largest group of industries, with a total revenue of $16.8 billion

10. Madhubala - Another Indian actress. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Say, Snood, you must have some pretty good equipment down there at the base. Do you think you could get some of the heavy stuff and a few of the boys and spring me out. I still got 3 to go on a 5-10 and I'm gettin' a little stir crazy in here.

Gautam, are those films you talk about seeing four times over available in the US? I, too, would like to meet Indiri Ghandi.

Roberta, thanks for the reminder about Light in August. Well worth a reread.

Ossobuco, I am still reading the links you gave me for your guests. Whew...

Snood, you don't look old. Confused
