I thought 'sophistication' had something to do with the fist fights that are likely to break out any minute now.

Hagia Sofia my crib in Turkey, ...
A right nice place for dinner parties.
Cav-- Would love to entertain you and the wonderful Ms Cav.
....and all the hungry children we could fit in that pretty cavern...
....and Cat Stevens.... (He did condemn the terrorist attacks)... and would have to sing his peace and love songs for his dinner.

We're having turkey? In a crib? With Cat Stevens? That all sounds a bit icky to me...you're not into dressing in adult diapers and all are you?

Mind you, giving Cat Stevens a lot of turkey in payment for playing 'Moonshadow' might be fun...we can drink and watch the tryptophan take effect....once he is passed out, we can beat him with his guitar.

Poor Cat. Unappreciated.
Guess its not the 'sophisticated' party you referred to earlier.
-------------
sophistication: We are all travelling somewhere exciting with Sofia for our dinner!!

Maybe you can give me a better idea of what you meant.

osso, Have you made your final decisions? Or are you still ruminating?
Joe, It would appear that the former Cat Stevens has sacrificed his humanity for the sake of his soul. However, I'm inclined to judge the artist on the art.
farmerman, A room full of geologists. I like the idea. In fact, geology was one of of the few sciences I did well in. Just beginner courses, but I liked it. I am among those who never heard of some of your guests. No matter. It's your party, and I'm sure you'll love every minute of it.
sweetcomplication, I now understand the second part of your screen name. When you're around, things get complicated.
BBB, I'm gonna overlook the fact that you've got more than ten guests. After all, you're willing to move to larger digs to accommodate them. Please tell us why you chose the people you chose. (Not necessary to include your children. I think we've got that figured out.)
Sofia, Turkey? I'm assuming you've been there.

Roberta--
Nope, haven't been there. I was trying to figure out what cav meant by his " sophistication: We are all travelling somewhere exciting with Sofia for our dinner!! " post.
Since somewhere, somebody related my screen name to the Sofia Hagia in Turkey--and it seemed like a nice place for a shin-dig, I suggested it.
Haven't been to Turkey, but have eaten some...

Sofia: I believe you will find your answer re Cav @:
sweetcomplication, I haven't been talking to anybody. I figured it out all by myself. Sorry to have wounded you, querida. But let's face it, we're on two of the same threads at the moment and, well, things get complicated when you're there.
sofia, Ah, now I understand the Sofia Hagia reference. Youse guys seem to know one another. I guess I don't usually hang out in the places you usually hang out.

So, Roberta, what do you want me to do? Just leave A2K in order to make things 'simple' for you?
And, no, Sofia, that question is NOT directed at you because you have made it quite clear to everybody that you'd like me to just drop dead...

Why BBB chose her guest list
BumbleBeeBoogie's dinner guests were chosen because:
Eric Hoffer: His book, The True Believers, is very relevant to the world today as we try to understand the terrorist's mind and radical religious chauvinism of all sects.
Gore Vidal: He is smart, a world-class wit and fascinating conversationalist.
Maya Angelou: It would be lovely to talk with Maya again after an span of thirty years since we worked on projects together in the S.F. Bay Area.
Vassily Kandinski: One of my favorite painters. A copy of his "Russian Woman in a Landscape" hangs in my home.
Kees Boeke and Philip and Phylis Morrison: Dutch scientist Boeke wrote "The Universe in Forty Jumps in 1957, which I reread many times. The morrisons created the film, "The Power of Ten" based on Boeke's book.
Sam Sam Burros: She is an American Indian artist living in Albuquerque and among my favorite women painters.
Claude Debussey: I love his musical translation of the Impressionist Painter's movement, which was revolutionary in his time.
Julia Child: Why not? She not only cooks well, she's witty.
Buckminster Fuller: A true renaissance man, he not only created the geodesic dome, he was ahead of his time is his concern about our planet.
Garry Trudeau: I like his Doonesbury comic strip and think he's very wise and very in tune with young people.
Wiley Miller: His Nonsequiter cartoons are among the very best. I like his unique outlook and ironic humor.
Lynn Johnston: I enjoy her "For Better or For Worse" comic strip tales of the Patterson Family saga.
Do I need a reason for Dyslexia, Fbaezer, Diane, Blatham, and Asherman? Meeting them at the Western Gathering makes them a must at any dinner party.
And my children: I miss them very much since moving from California to New Mexico in October last year. Besides, they are good company.

Take your spat private, PLEASE
To those who can't be good dinner guests, I request that you show better table manners and use private messages to persue your spat. It's very rude to inflict it on the other guests in A2K's dining room.
It's also very boring!

sweetcomplication, I haven't spoken to anyone about you. I was making a joke and an observation. And I honestly thought that your response was a joke too. I guess it wasn't. No, I'm not suggesting that you leave a2k. And I'm sorry that I upset you.
BBB, I think the discussion at your dinner party will be tres fascinating. A good mix of great talent, great minds, and good talkers.

What clown? Oh...me... Sofia, my play on words was simply mixing sofia with vacation in a free-form kinda way, sophistication...sure, it was a reach, but seemed fun at the time, just a joke. Sweetcomplication and Sofia....we have all PMd, I think you are both great, and would love to see you get along. I think we know where we stand. You will have to figure it out, I won't get caught in the middle. I am after all, just a clown with a rude sign....please help us keep this thread light

If you will look back, cav, you will see that none of my posts was unpleasant or related to any argument.
I was just trying to figgur out why you didna like Cat or Turkey. The only middle you need to worry about being in -is a Sofia and mrs cav sandwich.

BumbleBeeBoogie, I would love to attend your party!! The group couldn't be more interesting or diverse. And with you as the hostess, the success is guaranteed. Actually, I think you would also like for Roberta to be there. Both of you are smart, tough ladies with exceptionally intelligent minds and the ability to hold your own in any conversation. Not too sweet, but just the right mixture of smarts and good manners.

No clue what spat is occurring. Calm, please, at my dinner table.
I envision my dinner party to be in some big kitchen, and all these people have to help and everybody gets to talk, even the hostess, if only to redirect, or relisten. Eventually we will all go out to the picnic tables over the gravel and under the grapes/overhead and looking at the setting sun.
I am not sure, Roberta. on my list, but I will say I am if you are trying to tie it up right now. ok, a deadline, I am sure - if I don't respond within 24 hours, at which time I am dunked into a vat of ...
well, there is another topic.
