IMO, all this shows is your irresponsible gun ownership. The only time it should be loaded is when you intend to use it.

All guns are always loaded. Didn't your parents teach you that Intrepid?

Besides, if you're keeping a gun for personal protection, it doesn't do much good to keep the bullets in the refrigerator, now does it?

You can leave my parents out of this, thank you. Evidently, you guys don't have a safe storage law down there. Don't you think that it is rather stupid to keep loaded guns where children could have access to them.

Then, of course, your right to keep and bear arms surpasses any logic or safety considerations.

Amen. And Americans don't have to take gun safety courses when they buy a gun. A free society? To do what? Kill each other? My point concerning evolving from cave-man tactics is lost upon such cretins. 21st C. Americans think they are so ultra modern, but you're running around, consumed with fear. You're a violent, sick society. In Canada, we ARE free people because we aren't worried about being offed every time we leave our homes. We have the right to own guns - we also have the RESPONSIBILITY to learn gun safety before we can buy a gun.

Why don't you people grow up down there. You're like 5 year olds with your first 6 shooter and fake chaps.

That you would prefer to be an evolutionary throwback to tool-less australopithecines is a personal choice on your part. We have no obligations to follow along in your foolishness.

Our freedom must be a real challenge to you for you to be so childish all the time.

The Amish Safety Committee of Eastern Pa has taken a decidedly low-tech approach to try to prevent any re-occurences of the multiple murders near Starsburg Pa a few weeks ago.

The spokesmen announced that
"despite the urgings from police organizations to ahve a closer communication with the them and to also invest in some kind of alarm systems, We (and I paraphrase) dont see that schools that are all sensored up arent any safer. We will , in the future, for all new schools and in upgrading our existing schools, opt for cain link fences and better locks for the school doors."

Some Amish schools already have these types of features but for a totally different reason. The schools nearer the "tourist areas" try to discourage tourists from sneaking close to the schools and snapping pictures of the kids(a practise which is definately not in accordance with their beliefs in avoiding "graven images")

Basically, the Amish said 'Thanks for your input but we wish to proceed along this other path"

So much for my "Guns for the Amish" charity drive. I'm guessing they'd refuse those too.

Ingrates.

In Canada, do you have to take a safety class before you can buy a big, sharp chef's knife at the mall? What about table saws? Do table saws come with child proof safes up north?

Whats wrong with having to take a minimum safety course with a table saw? Lots of people cut appendages off and have table sawsfling pieces of wood like missiles through ones midsection. Kickback accidents are probably the most frequent of beginners accidents while cut off fingers is often reserved for pros.

youre not doing a great job of arguing for laissez faire gun ownership.

Actually, the Consumer Products Safety Commission reports that every year
table saws are involved in over 60,000 injuries, over 3,000 amputations, and $2 billion in injury-related costs....

Maybe a mandatory safety course wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

All knives should come with child proof sleeves. And trigger locks. Table saws should have trigger locks too.

We have some Wiltshire knives that have a locking mechanism on the sheath.

Also, my Craftman table saw has a "trigger lock" that prevents it from being turned on without specific action being taken to insert the removeable lock key.

No. They are optional. It is called a locked door.

Actually, come to think of it, my table saw came with it's own key-- just like my car-- and it won't work without it.

Table saws and chef knives aren't weapons. Obviously a knife could be used as one, but that's not what they're designed for. The same thing cannot be said about guns, and I'm sure more deaths occur from a single gunshot than a single stab wound. I'm also sure that you can kill more people in 2 minutes with a gun than you can with a chef's knife. Your argument is spurious, at best.

Ginsu Knives are legendary for their ability to cut through just about anything and stay sharp. I wonder if that was what he was thinking about?

I believe he was using examples to make a point which obviously went over some heads.
