If ever there was a winter for indoor plumbing, this past winter was it! Endless weeks of -40 with the wind chill weather and snowfall after snowfall. We have managed to empty the propane tank, burn through 14 cords of firewood (pun intended) and I don't even want to discuss the hydro bill. I'm just glad that spring seems to have finally arrived -- at least the daffodils are finally up even if it has dipped down near the freezing mark the last couple of nights. Trying for a few photos:

Hi ehBeth and osso. Definitely progress. Two porches to finish before we can get the final inspection. Still rearranging furniture now that the main room has more space. Only took, what? a year :-)

Quail eggs?

We didn't go looking for quail eggs but took them when offered. You need a lot of quail eggs to make a meal. We had met a couple at our yard sale and the lady bought a book the Mr. had really enjoyed. Turns out she had the first in the series and invited us to come pick it up. We got a lesson in raising quail as well. Six weeks from chick to table apparently. Not sure I could wring one's neck though -- they are pretty cute.

We are definitely becoming more social now that we have indoor plumbing and can invite people over.
