Cover
I pulled the cover over my head
as the night cooled from the days warm sun
Dolly and Maddy snuggle on my bed
watching me wake to greet the morning's fun.

Balloons

(to salute the mass ascension of the hot air balloons this morning in Albuquerque)

child's Question

Balloons flying up over my head
when they pop on a tree branch
are they dead?

sparkles on the river dance and glow,
when the cloud covers the sun,
where do the sparkles go?

Faithful to our inner heart
Is where each tenet must begin.
No way to reflect what's real
If our deception starts within.
And should we only live for one,
We miss the life blood of together.
And lose the taste of now, forever.

Trust me
and do as I ask
Trust me
and I'll be gentle
Trust me
I'll respect you in the morning

Acorns with their small brown hats
Underfoot and under oaks
Waiting for their chance to
Coax the mother earth to help them grow.

and when the fruit has taken hold,
and time does fertilize the soil
A child will climb them one green day
And look at all the velvet earth

Congealed
My eyes followed the candle smoke
curling and dancing through the dust beams,
shimmering through the rays of the candle flame.
It swirled and drifted down to the table
where the golden champagne's dying bubbles
clung to the sides of the crystal glass
as if they were swimmers grasping at life buoys.
Their struggle splashed beads of opalescent light
across the table to the china plate
where the congealed blood from once-juicy,
but now cold slices of roast beef puddled;
their dried edges starting to split and curl.

skin of alabaster
heart is racing
ever faster
walking slowly
inching
past her
should I meet
her gaze
my soul be
enslaved
in a translucent cage
and
skin of alabaster

Incubus
Virgin births are unexplained
except for super natural plan,
is Incubus the one defamed
as history's horny man?

Outrigger canoe in the chain
Of Captain Cook's islander fame.

The singing and leis
Of Hawaiian days,
The rumble of earth
Tsunami's eau curse
The Eden emerging in flame.

Aloha
"Aloha" murmered the rumbling rocks
throughout the island chain,
"Aloha" was the echo of the hula goddess
her hips quaking back and forth
to the rythym of the islands' tremors,
Mauna Loa's fire reminding everyone
that Hawaii may be a paradise,
but the volcano remains supreme.

stems of green
pedels of red
yet tears still fell
to look so pretty
to grow so strong
and be called a weed

Fear is the cloak that chokes love,
Adrenalin coursing through
Veins.

The horseman of wry wielding scythes,
Despotic benevolent hue
Reigns.

pedestrain
How sad to live the pedestrian life
a colorless and unimaginative person
a humdrum conversation lite
of life, a lackluster version

He climbed the trellis
step by step
trying not
to break his neck
at the top
finally
he tied a rope
tapping the window
quietly he spoke
hurry dear
climb down the rope
at the bottom
from the window
her mother spoke
my dear my dear
you cantalope

came from fervored wishin
all hatred would turn to love
