@snood,
Promise you'll come back to stay,
We miss you seed; that's all I'll say,

But should you wish to join again,
We'll always call you our young friend.

Where ere you go,
We'll think of you,

And hope to see you
Smiling through.

i have dwelt alone
neath that bridge of stone
a year and a day

i dream of the north
where the kings go forth
so solemn and gray

@edgarblythe,
Aggregate some steel around those nerves.
Lay them in the fire until they are immune
Work them, hard.
When they are malleable, open to impression,
Create.
Ploughshares are better than swords
But follow your own weird and
Keep your temper

Hey Spike... like that, like that a lot... I think you read my mind, tho I am only on first 3 lines - not quite immune yet, still working hard!

Good prose - thank you girl.

nice to see you around, haven't seen you for ages - hoping all is well on Down Under and the chooks are chooking. Take care girlie... hugs... Izzie xx

@Izzie,
Hi Iz, big hug.

If I beat you to it I hope you will post yours anyway, once it is done. It's fun to see how different people approach ideas. Maybe that could be part of the thread, it's not limited to one.

Yes, life is treating me OK, hope you are the same, but then, sometimes I think you are indomitable. Razz

@edgarblythe,
So laconic the vignette
A miniature portrait
I'll n'er forget

The Rockfish River
Rushing by
Where Blueridge mountains
Touch the sky

@Letty,
Where's the one you started Iz? Nowhere does it say One poem from one word.

I want to see. Smile

@spikepipsqueak,
Memory

Up and down those hills
Ranging in reverse.
Revisiting the things that gave me form.
Examine fossils of a former time,
Learning what there is to know
Diving into misery unplumbed
Then surfacing to breathe the new fresh air
And climbing from my useless reverie
To walk on, confidently
And ponder what my neighbour said to me.

“We’d all do it differently.”

With tireless silly zeal we filled our futures full
Of promises
And built shiny mansions out of half baked schemes
And did not toil or stop
To fear the day
That time and gravity would come to claim their debt
Oh no
Too heady were the tales
We spun of standing atop
Our heaps of effortless treasure
How cold, hard and heavy is that closing door - regret

@snood,
At last awake
Vision unimpaired
Cold grey day
To match my mood
Dispassionate
The truth sits hard on me
Tomorrow when the sun
Invades my space
My sanguine soul
Will once again
Don the rosy specs
Self deceived
Saunter chuckle dream

@spikepipsqueak,
Soni and share
were quite the pair
as they regaled
the sky with song.

With tears to so
gently wipe
to know their
dear daughter
is gone

And the air now reeks
of men's colone.

Bombs-bursting, soaring, inspired angel’s clarion cry
A panorama that fills the sky with ethereal hue
and light so pure it shows the way to heaven
texture feathery soft, yet firm and supple enough to thrill
ambrosia flavored nectar rapturing the palate…
…or, maybe her perfume just smelled good

with sighs through the trees
the trees stretch and dance
then fold in acceptance

@edgarblythe,
Ah the Montagues and Capulets

Juliette bore her heart on a
sleeve that was long and tight
as was the Renaissance way.

Leaning over the balcony
Juliette spied Romeo
Not knowing that both
would soon be victims of the
Bards deadly prose.

@Sglass,
He took a tiny nibble
And then a bite of me,
More than a moment to savour the flavour,
Consider the future.
Then, finding me wanting,
P-tooey.
I hit the dirt
Running.
Internally vowing
I’d never look back
But failing.

@spikepipsqueak,
(((((((((((((Spike))))))))))))))))) - how's you gal? Very Happy

Mirror

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
Show your face before you fall
Are you smiling? do you cry?
What’s the truth, is it a lie?
In your eyes, there are tears
Don't look now, hide from your fears.
Walking past another day
Quickly glancing, who can say
Reflecting back, peek and see
Someone else, or is it thee
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Show your face before you fall
Be gone now, turn out the light
Another day, another fight

Do not care to look again
Will be the same, now as then.

@Izzie,
A single ember from deep within
Burns brighter and brighter as flames begin
The fire of truth will light the way
And help you live another day

@Intrepid,
At night I can't sleep, I just twist and turn
All those phone calls you never return
I know you said you need to be alone
But why do you have to find yourself so far away from home
To many unanswered letters
All I have is your word, it's gonna get better
