Quoted For Truth

Ah thanks. I couldn't come up with the phrase for it.

Come on, Foxy ... get in the now.

Do you know what "ROFLMAO" means?

My bad Tico, but yeah, I know what ROFLMAO means. Smile

Oh and C.I. and McTag might be interested in this year's increase in military benefits too:

(I'm sure they've had a power outtage or something to explain why they are so quiet at this time. You suppose?)

I am quiet at this time because I was helping decorate the Christmas tree.

I apologise.

Also McTag, here's a summary of HR Bill 2297 passed early in George Bush's term of office:

It will be fascinating to see how many bills the Democrat majority will initiate to benefit veterans after them excoriating the Bush administration for "not doing so".

Okay that reads well for 2003. Good intentions.

The material I remember reading was since that time BUT

and here's a rare thing on this thread

I will admit having no particular insights on this topic, just general reading. There have been so many anti-Bush writings over the last four years I just, maybe naively, tend to think that not all of them can be wrong. Hell, even Republicans are writing them now.

And this just in:

Al Qaeda Sends a Message to Democrats
December 22, 2006 2:28 PM

Brian Ross and Hoda Osman Report:

Al Qaeda has sent a message to leaders of the Democratic party that credit for the defeat of congressional Republicans belongs to the terrorists.

In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.

"The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost," Zawahri said, according to a full transcript obtained by ABC News.

"And if you don't refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate," he said

That's exactly what I have said.
Every nation that has been attacked by Al Qaeda has then elected a pro-terorist government.
Spain. Italy.
And now the USA.

I dunno Walter. I guess you have to tilt a bit to the right to appreciate the humor. I bet McG and Tico got it though.

Well, I mean that's very similar to some of that peculiar Nazi "humour" we unfortunately had had in our history.

But those were right wings as well.

How bad it must have been for you and that you would see this as similar. I am pretty well versed in the Nazi era and see no similarities at all. Must be a European thing.

No, not general European but one of those who know by own experience how it is to suffer from such a heritage.

And, honestly, Foxfyre, I really doubt that you are "well versed in the Nazi era".

I'm not as well versed as my husband who has studied it all his adult life. But I also took some History courses and have done some independent study so I'm not totally ignorant on the subject either. And we all have our crosses to bear re some of the more negative aspects of our national histories.

Look, you're reading something into the comment that just isn't there. It is funny if you happen to be a conservative American who doubts the Democrats will be as aggressive against terroism as the GOP has been. It was not meant to be taken literally. This is the Bush Supporters thread and I reserve the right to enjoy my own sense of humor on it. So please don't try to make it into something more than it was intended to be either by the person who made the comment or by somebody like me who appreciates the joke.
