Hey, the rich are now significantly richer than before

Fox doesn't want to see that undone.

Yeah.... I still can't believe this. I'm totally with sozobe on this issue. International media outlets all over the world reported about irregularities last night. Not something people are used to in most other western countries. This should be a bipartisan concern, shouldn't it?

I'm with you and sozobe on this too. Maybe now that the other party is on the losing end, we'll see some investigation and improvement of the process.

No kiddin', OE . . . the Republicans aren't gonna worry about this until the Democrats figure out how to hack the voting machines . . . sheesh . . .

McGentrix, are you saying that there were no problems reported - no irregularities, nothing whatsoever?

And feel free to talk about the elections process in European countries, too...

I have an issue with your statement "Not something people are used to in most other western countries.". It's BS and I am surprised that others let you slide on by.

I've noticed that last night... Again, from this here article: GOP Officials Call To Impound Voting Machines

Quote:
Pennsylvania GOP officials claimed there were reports that some machines were changing Republican votes to Democratic votes. They asked the state to investigate and said they were not ruling out a legal challenge.

According to Santorum's camp, people are voting for Santorum, but the vote either registered as invalid or a vote for Casey.

Asked if the party would consider legal action, state Republican executive director Scott Migli said, "We've got all options on the table at this point. We feel like the electoral system has been left up to computer technicians."

Sure. Everything's perfectly alright, nothing to see here....

<sheesh>

I bet $100 that this specific prediction of mine is true:

The Republicans will add at least 3 seats in the House and add at least 1 seat in the Senate, because the voters will by election day realize that the psychotic Democrats are a far greater threat to our security than the neurotic Republicans.

I was wrong. The voters prefer the psychotic Democrats to the neurotic Republicans.

I lost my bet.

As promised, today I have mailed my check for $100 to the Salvation Army.

Well done, sir. Your word is adequate on the matter.

If your prediction had been correct, I would have certainly mailed a check for $100 to the ACLU. In truth the check would have probably been quite a bit higher than that.

Well our state is firmly in the grasp of the 'winning party' and has been for some time. Our governor took it upon himself to reform our voting system by eliminating voting machines altogether and going back to strictly paper ballots. Result? At least two precincts received only a fraction of the ballots needed and quickly ran out. People were turned away and told to come back later. Yeah right. It likely caused the loss of votes that would have gone to one or both candidates in an extremely close race vying for District 1 House Rep.

As the two precincts included a heavy majority of registered Republican voters, of course it looked fishy to the Republicans however inadvertent it might have been. The chance that the majority party will look into it voluntarily, however, are slim and none.

But there are always going to be glitches and irregularities, some intended, some not. I just don't believe there were enough of them to account for all the Democrat wins in this election.

What is WRONG with the voting system in the US?

How come other countries can manage to have elections without all this crap?

Good point, dlowan. Most Americans are not capable of seeing outside our own country - with all its faults and shortcomings. Republicans have already forgotten the brouhaha of the elections in Florida in 2004. They approve torture of prisoners, tax breaks for the rich while our country goes deeper into debt, and otherwise has one of the lowest approval ratings, and they have the mitigated gall to question the voting machines in the current elections because they "lost."

That are questions, I asked myself since years.
But probably this is the answer:

I mean, of course something CAN happen. But not always and intended?

No it's not. There are plenty of election irregularities in many western countries. Why would you beleive people would not be used to it?

I am not sure how many you need to satisfy your inabaility to use a search engine, but these are some I found in less them 5 minutes.

Surely you don't believe voting irregularities is solely and American concept, do you?
